4.9 magnitude earthquake in Quang Ngai early this morning

The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences announced that from 0:41 to 1:46 on October 6, 4 earthquakes occurred in Mang But and Mang Ri communes (Quang Ngai province).

Specifically, in Mang But commune, there were 2 earthquakes, with a magnitude of 2.6, a focal depth of about 8.1 km, and a natural disaster risk level of 0.

The remaining two earthquakes occurred in Mang Ri commune, with magnitudes of 2.9 and 4.9, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km. Of which, the earthquake with magnitude 4.9 caused a level 1 natural disaster risk.

The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences is continuing to monitor these earthquakes.

The 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Mang Ri commune caused strong tremors. According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Thang, a resident of Mang Ri commune, when the earthquake occurred, he was sleeping and felt the metal roof, door, and bed shaking strongly, so he was scared and ran outside.

Mr. Pham Xuan Quang, Chairman of Mang Ri Commune People's Committee, said that the earthquake in the area caused strong shaking but initial statistics showed that it did not cause any damage to people or property.

In Tu Mo Rong commune (bordering Mang Ri commune), the locality has not recorded any damage caused by the earthquake despite causing tremors in the area.

People in Gia Lai province, about 180km from Mang Ri commune (the epicenter of the earthquake), also felt the tremors caused by the earthquake.
