.PV: Could you please tell us how Vietnam's preparations for AMMS-8 and related conferences have been carried out to ensure professionalism, solemnity and effectiveness?

- Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Le Thi Hoang Yen: In the past time, under the close direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Sports Administration - as the standing organizing agency - has urgently and seriously deployed comprehensive preparations for the 16th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports (SOMS-16), AMMS-8 and related conferences. Our goal is to ensure that every step is carried out in the most methodical, thoughtful and professional manner.

From the beginning, the Conference Organizing Committee was established, consisting of three specialized subcommittees: Reception - Finance - Logistics Subcommittee, Security - Medical Subcommittee, and Content - Communications Subcommittee. Each subcommittee has specific working regulations, clearly assigning tasks to each member to ensure effective coordination.

The logistics work was carefully implemented, from choosing the venue to the items serving the Conference, the travel plan for delegates to ensure convenience, safety and science . The volunteer force was selected and trained thoroughly in communication skills and foreign affairs, demonstrating the friendly and professional spirit of the host country. The stages of reception, ceremony, security, health care, and finance were also deployed synchronously, ensuring solemnity and compliance with international protocol.

The Vietnam Sports Administration will also work closely with the ASEAN Secretariat to finalize the agenda of the Conference. Within the framework of AMMS-8, there will be cooperation on anti-doping, discussion of ASEAN sports cooperation plans with Japan and China, and thematic reports from member countries on the results of implementing previous cooperation programs.

Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Department said that all preparations have been carried out carefully and methodically.

Along with that, communication and promotion work is also given special attention. We have completed the event identity, created promotional clips, trailers, and exhibition spaces for photos and ASEAN sports products. These images and documents not only honor regional sports achievements but also introduce to international friends the country, people and culture of Vietnam.

At this point, all basic preparations have been completed, ready for the opening day. We believe that the ASEAN Ministers, Deputy Ministers and senior officials will have an effective working time, and at the same time leave a good impression of the thoughtfulness, hospitality and professionalism of Vietnam.

Vietnam is highly appreciated for taking on the role of Chair and hosting AMMS-8. In your opinion, what is the significance of this event for Vietnamese and regional sports?

- Hosting AMMS-8 and related conferences is a great honor and international responsibility of Vietnam in the ASEAN sports cooperation mechanism. This is the most important ministerial-level forum in the regional sports field, where countries discuss and orient the ASEAN sports development strategy in the new period.

The event has many special meanings: first of all, it is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its role, position and international prestige, and at the same time demonstrate a proactive, positive and responsible spirit in regional cooperation. This is also an opportunity for us to promote the image of the country, people and achievements of Vietnam's sports, contributing to enhancing understanding, friendship and solidarity in the ASEAN community.

Through international cooperation, Vietnam has the opportunity to access advanced management models, modern sports science, physical education, school sports and sports for the disabled – areas that are receiving special attention. This will contribute to improving the comprehensive capacity of Vietnamese sports, meeting the requirements of deep integration and sustainable development.

At the same time, hosting AMMS-8 is also an opportunity to concretize the Party and State's multilateral foreign policy, implementing the spirit of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.

Could you please tell us what key contents and main directions the AMMS-8 Conference and related conferences this year will focus on to promote regional sports development in the coming period?

Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen chaired the press conference to provide information about AMMS-8 and related conferences.

AMMS-8, taking place from October 13 to 17 with the theme: Navigating Sports – Contributing to Sustainable Development, will be an opportunity for ASEAN Ministers and senior officials to review the past cooperation journey and determine the direction for the new period.

The conference focused on discussing key issues: developing professional sports in association with sports science and economics, enhancing international competitiveness; promoting gender equality, encouraging the participation of women, youth and people with disabilities; preserving and promoting traditional sports associated with ASEAN culture; and building an ASEAN High Performance Sports Centre to facilitate training, professional exchange and raising the level of regional athletes.

In addition, the Conference will discuss the role of sports in improving public health, implementing sustainable development goals, and promoting cooperation with partners such as Japan, China, Korea and international organizations such as FIFA, WADA, and SEARADO.

As the host country, Vietnam hopes that AMMS-8 will bring about practical results, creating new momentum for ASEAN sports cooperation, contributing to building a united, developed and sustainable community, where sports truly become a bridge of peace, friendship and social progress.

Thank you. Wishing AMMS-8 and related conferences every success!
