The press conference about Vietnam hosting the full-distance IRONMAN triathlon for the first time was held by the IRONMAN group on the morning of September 23 in Da Nang.
This event officially marks an important milestone in the international integration process of Vietnamese sports, and at the same time makes Da Nang a new destination on the map of the world's leading endurance tournaments.

IRONMAN Vietnam 2026 will be held in parallel with IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang , a familiar tournament that has been maintained since 2015, with the expectation of contributing to spreading the triathlon movement in Vietnam.
According to the announcement, the full IRONMAN race in Da Nang City includes three events: 3.8 km swimming at East Sea Park; 180 km cycling through the coastal road of Vo Nguyen Giap, Thuan Phuoc Bridge and suburban fields; 42.2 km running along My Khe beach with the finish line at East Sea Park.

“Da Nang has been a great destination for IRONMAN 70.3 for the past 10 years, so hosting the full IRONMAN in Vietnam for the first time is an important step forward, providing an exciting experience for both international athletes and the local community,” said Jeff Edwards, Managing Director of Asia for the IRONMAN Group.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, affirmed that hosting the full IRONMAN 2026 is a testament to the capacity of this central capital city to organize world-class events.
"Da Nang will carefully prepare infrastructure, resources and closely coordinate with relevant parties to ensure the success of the event, thereby promoting Da Nang as a dynamic, modern and attractive destination," Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, said that this event not only enhances the image of Da Nang City but also creates momentum for the development of a sustainable endurance sports ecosystem, bringing long-term benefits to the community and the local tourism industry.
Mr. Trinh Bang, representative of Sunrise Events Vietnam (co-organizer), emphasized: "Since bringing IRONMAN 70.3 to Vietnam in 2015, we have believed that the country has the conditions to host a full IRONMAN tournament. After a decade, the athlete community has grown stronger, the sports infrastructure has been standardized and now Vietnam is ready to enter the world-class playing field."
The official registration portal for IRONMAN Vietnam 2026 will open from September 25, 2025 at https://www.ironman.com/races/im-vietnam. The organizers expect the event to not only attract thousands of international athletes and fans, but also bring a big boost to the sports industry, tourism and national image.
