According to Carragher, MU's current form under the Portuguese strategist is so bad that it "cannot be justified".
Commenting on Sky Sports , the former Liverpool defender said bluntly: "I don't like to say someone should be sacked, because it's a job and a man's honor. But I have to admit that Ruben Amorim's current position is untenable. I think his departure from MU is just a matter of time, probably before Christmas."
Carragher also pointed out Amorim's alarming statistics since taking over at MU: "After 50 games in charge, his team has only scored two more goals than they have conceded. That is a terrible number when looking at the size and quality of a club like MU."
According to statistics, Amorim is currently holding the worst record in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, with only 34 points after 31 Premier League matches. For comparison, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - who has the second worst record - still collected 56 points in the same number of matches, or 12 points more than Amorim.
Despite great pressure from public opinion, Amorim still received support from MU's leadership and players in the locker room.
