This information was given at an online meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha regarding the implementation of response work to storm No. 12 held this morning, October 22.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that he had directed the establishment of three forward command posts at the Da Nang City Administrative Center, Dai Loc and Tam Ky (old) to promptly direct and operate prevention, response and rescue work in the context of storm Than Gio (storm No. 12) approaching the mainland.
The three forward command posts are divided in the west, south and center of Da Nang because the city is now 10 times larger than before with terrain ranging from the high mountains to the border to the sea.
At this meeting, Mr. Hung said that up to now, 121 reservoirs in the area have been regulated to the maximum low level, ready to cut floods for low-lying areas.
Up to now, Da Nang has distributed about 50 small boats, hundreds of vehicles, rescue equipment and more than 1,000 life jackets to areas at risk of deep flooding.
At the same time, people are advised to stock up on food for at least 3 days, keep their belongings high and proactively move to a safe place before 5:00 p.m. on October 22.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Hung said that up to now, the city is ready at the highest level to respond to storms, especially situations of heavy rain, floods and landslides.
According to Mr. Hung, the new Da Nang currently has a large area with two constant risks to face due to storms causing heavy rain.
Mountainous areas are at very high risk of landslides and flash floods. Meanwhile, urban and delta areas are also at risk of flooding when faced with heavy rainfall.

Go door to door to mobilize Da Nang residents to evacuate to avoid floods
On October 22, functional forces and military forces stationed in Da Nang went to low-lying residential areas at risk of deep flooding, knocking on doors to persuade people to evacuate. Accordingly, Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 5 - directly inspected storm response work in Da Nang city.
Accordingly, the working group inspected areas at high risk of landslides in Hoa Son cemetery, residential area of alley 161 Me Suot (flood center of Da Nang in recent times) and inspected places to evacuate people from flooded areas at universities.
The evacuation point at the University of Education - Danang University is expected to receive about 2,000 people when the storm makes landfall.
Here, necessities such as instant noodles, drinking water, blankets, etc., have been prepared. Military forces, police and youth volunteers are deployed to assist people in evacuating in case of emergency.
At Me Suot Street (Hoa Khanh Ward) - which was deeply flooded in the 2022 flood, dozens of officers, soldiers, militia and civil defense forces helped people reinforce their houses, move their belongings, and bring the elderly and children to safety.
Not only on Me Suot Street, many other streets such as Au Co, Tran Ngoc Suong, and Nguyen Khuyen also recorded scenes of people moving things up high, tying doors, and taping glass to limit strong gusts of wind.
Directly at the flood hotspot
A representative of the People's Committee of Hoa Khanh Ward said that the locality has mobilized all forces to vulnerable areas, such as Au Co Street and Me Suot Street, which are frequently flooded, especially during heavy rains like the recent one.
Currently, the locality has deployed forces on duty, giving top priority to ensuring people's safety.
