"Lifebuoy" for the poor
Vo Thi Cam Thuy (born in 2007, Phu Ninh commune) had just been admitted to the University of Economics (University of Da Nang) when she discovered she had a serious illness, with estimated treatment costs of more than 2 billion VND. Meanwhile, her parents worked as farmers to raise 3 children. Thuy's mother, Le Thi Trang (born in 1974), suffered from depression after giving birth to her youngest child and was often sick. The family's only asset was the house they were living in, but it was mortgaged to cover treatment costs.
Upon receiving the information, the Danang Association in Ho Chi Minh City mobilized the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients to support 30 million VND for the family to treat their child.
