American director unexpectedly auditions for behind-the-scenes beauty pageant film

Director Aaron Toronto is one of the faces directly participating in the casting of the movie "Blood Crown", with the participation of People's Artist My Uyen and Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen in the hot seat.

The casting session for the Blood Crown film project was held on October 12 and 13 in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting hundreds of candidates.

In the list of candidates, there are many familiar names: transgender beauty queen Do Nhat Ha, actors Trong Nhan, Thanh Thuc, Manh Hung, Quang Anh, actor - MC Dustin Nguyen, beauty queen Kieu Vu, Top 10 Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 Tran Hong Ngoc, KOL Thoa Thuong... The candidates will go through many different casting rounds from body check, catwalk, improvisation to acting practice round.

In particular, this is a rare occasion for actor-director Aaron Toronto to participate in a casting for a Vietnamese film project. Although he has held many different roles, the American director was previously remembered by audiences as the director of the film The Glorious Night .

At the casting, many candidates showed their acting skills and improvisational abilities. Trong Nhan and Thanh Thuc delivered brilliant and versatile performances in the scene where the male character confronts his sinful past. Both said that even though they only read a short scene, they were inspired by this movie.

People's Artist My Uyen, the guest judge, was surprised to see a large number of young actors ready for the casting early. She said the title of this film is very unique and attractive, showing the proximity to the current entertainment audience's taste in beauty pageants.

Meanwhile, Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen and beauty queen – actress Ky Han continuously put forward high demands on the actors participating in the casting. Meritorious Artist Kim Tuyen repeatedly analyzed the characters’ psychology in depth so that the contestants would have more opportunities to show their abilities and creativity in acting.

The movie Blood Crown is a mix of detective, thriller and spiritual elements. The movie does not stop at the journey to glory in beauty contests but also explores the dark corners behind the scenes, with many unpredictable and even bloody tricks.

This is the first film project of producer Anna House Productions, who is also the team that came up with the idea and wrote the script for this film.

According to the crew, the film brings together a production team of many domestic and foreign names. The film is expected to be released in 2026.
