At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for sending condolences and emergency aid to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of storm No. 3, emphasizing that this is a clear demonstration of the friendship and sharing between the leaders and people of the two countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the continued positive development of the Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership; agreed to deepen and deepen the bilateral relationship, and jointly contribute to building a strong, self-reliant and sustainably developing ASEAN Community.
Regarding the key cooperation areas in the coming time, the two leaders agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations; coordinate to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms and the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership for the 2023-2027 period.
The Prime Minister asked Brunei to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for granting licenses to Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen to operate in Brunei and to soon extend the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on the use of hotlines for information exchange to address illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

The Sultan of Brunei affirmed that he will soon arrange a State visit to Vietnam; agreed to further deepen the friendly relations with Vietnam, and enhance cooperation in trade, agriculture , fisheries, and oil and gas. The Sultan also appreciated the two countries' early signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the Halal field, and agreed to promote cooperation to participate in the global Halal food and goods supply chain.
The two leaders discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, agreeing to maintain solidarity, unity and ASEAN's central role in the region; ensure peace, stability, security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea on the basis of international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982); and soon reach an effective and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982.
