Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with representatives of businesses and outstanding entrepreneurs nationwide on the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day (October 13).
On October 13, 1945, amidst the chaos of the early days of the young Democratic Republic of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to the industrial and commercial community. The letter was brief but contained a vision that transcended the times.
He wrote: “The government, the people and I will wholeheartedly help the business community in this construction project. National and family affairs always go together. A prosperous national economy means prosperous businesses of businessmen.”
With that message, President Ho Chi Minh soon recognized the important role of businessmen - those who not only trade and do business, but also shoulder the mission of building the economic independence of the Fatherland. That is also an affirmation of the companionship between the State, the people and businessmen - the first seed of the thinking "State creates - businessmen serve" that we are inheriting and developing today.
Eight decades have passed, but that spirit remains intact. From the start-up movement in the early Doi Moi period to the aspiration to rise up in the era of integration and artificial intelligence, Vietnamese entrepreneurs have, are and will continue to light up the nation’s dream of prosperity.
Those who light the fire for Vietnamese aspirations
Vietnamese entrepreneurs are people who dare to think, dare to do and dare to take responsibility. They are not distant figures, but ordinary people in everyday life - from their bare hands they build factories, workshops, industrial zones; from small ideas they create Vietnamese brands on the world map.
Behind every success are countless challenges: economic crisis, epidemic, global upheaval. Some have to pay the price with failure, with years of struggle, but most of them stand firm and move forward - because in their hearts always burn the fire of national pride and belief in the country's future.
The contribution of entrepreneurs is not only reflected in GDP figures or budget revenue, but also in the enduring vitality of the economy, in the millions of jobs created, in thousands of innovative initiatives and countless acts of sharing - from the days of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic to the relief efforts for people in natural disasters. They are the ones who contribute to keeping the economic flow uninterrupted, even in the most difficult circumstances.
Speaking at the meeting with Vietnamese entrepreneurs on October 9, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent an inspirational message: “Entrepreneurs need to continue to promote the spirit of confidence and self-reliance to 'take longer steps, reach out to the ocean, go deep into the earth, fly high into space'. That message is not only encouragement, but also the Government's belief in the Vietnamese entrepreneurs - the people who are quietly creating prosperity for the Fatherland every day. On the economic front today, they are peacetime soldiers, fighting not with guns and bullets, but with intelligence, bravery and patriotism; not protecting the border with walls, but with Vietnam's competitiveness, prestige and trust.
Entrepreneurs – the nation-building force of the new era
In the Party's strategic vision, the business community is not only an economic entity, but also a particularly important social force, contributing to realizing the aspiration for a strong, prosperous and happy nation.
At the meeting with outstanding entrepreneurs in October 2024, General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully acknowledged and commended the important achievements and results of the business community for the country's development, and emphasized: "Vietnamese entrepreneurs need to continue to promote national spirit, patriotism, great ambitions and aspirations for development, becoming models of entrepreneurial spirit, honest, humane and responsible business". These words demonstrate the Party and State's deep respect and trust in the business community - those who are shouldering the development mission with the country.
Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW (dated May 4, 2025) of the Politburo clearly affirmed: “The private economy is the most important driving force of the socialist-oriented market economy”. This is a historic turning point, marking a new vision - considering entrepreneurs as the central force in the process of creating national prosperity.
The sacred mission of Vietnamese entrepreneurs
For generations, every step forward of the country has been associated with pioneers. If in wartime, they were soldiers holding guns to protect the country and its borders, then in today's peacetime, businessmen are soldiers on the economic front - fighting with intelligence, courage and patriotism. Their mission is not only to get rich, but also to create prosperity, affirm Vietnam's position and contribute to realizing the nation's aspiration for power.
They create prosperity with Vietnamese intelligence and creativity. Every Vietnamese entrepreneur today is an “architect” of the national dream. Every Vietnamese brand reaching out to the world is an “invisible national flag”, affirming the nation’s competitiveness.
They serve the Fatherland with a sense of responsibility and compassion. In peacetime, patriotism is reflected in every action of businessmen — from keeping their word, taking care of their employees, paying taxes, protecting the environment and sharing with the community. They are peacetime soldiers, contributing to the protection of economic independence and national honor through their daily work.
To help Vietnamese entrepreneurs fly higher and further
In order for entrepreneurs to fulfill their sacred mission, the Party, the State and the whole society need to create an environment of trust, transparency and encouragement of creativity.
First of all, we need an institution that respects and protects those who dare to do things – where every initiative is encouraged, every effort to innovate is respected, and every success is spread. The State must not only “manage”, but also truly accompany – in the spirit that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has repeatedly emphasized: “The Government accompanies, listens, shares and supports businesses to overcome difficulties and grow”.
Second, we need a society that honors value creators. When society respects entrepreneurs, they will devote their whole heart to contributing. Honoring entrepreneurs is not only about praise, but also about fairness and trust – so that those who do right are encouraged, those who do wrong are guided to do good, and those who dare to innovate are not alone on their journey to serve the Fatherland.
People who bring glory to the Fatherland
Every era has its pioneers who shoulder the responsibility of the nation. If the previous generation sacrificed their blood and bones to gain independence, then today’s generation of entrepreneurs is shouldering the mission of gaining prosperity for the country – with intelligence, courage and aspiration to rise up.
Vietnamese businessmen do not only do business, they are also writing a new page of patriotism in peacetime. Each project, each product, each brand they build not only has material value, but also carries the trust of an entire nation that wants to assert itself on the world map. They understand that the prosperity of the business is only truly meaningful when it is linked to the prosperity of the Fatherland.
True to the spirit that President Ho Chi Minh once conveyed in his letter in 1945: “A prosperous national economy means that the businesses of entrepreneurs are prosperous”. Today, that saying is not only a reminder, but also a guideline for a new generation of entrepreneurs – those who know how to enrich themselves and enrich the country.
When each entrepreneur turns personal aspirations into national aspirations, when each Vietnamese brand carries within itself national pride, Vietnam will truly rise – strong, dignified and sustainable in a competitive world. And when history calls the names of those who contributed to the nation’s era of strength, there will certainly be Vietnamese entrepreneurs among them – those who create prosperity and serve the Fatherland with all their hearts and minds.
