This year, from the budget of the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee, Dam Rong district ( Lam Dong ) was allocated over 3.4 billion VND by the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to support diversified livelihood models for poor and near-poor households in especially difficult communes.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dam Rong district conducted a survey and decided to support the livelihoods of 167 households that registered to escape poverty; of which, 82 households requested support with machinery and agricultural tools of all kinds for production such as irrigation machines, water pipes, weeders, sprayers and hand plows.

In addition, 64 households need support with silkworm raising tools and silkworm breeds, 20 households request support with durian breeds and fertilizers...

Up to now, Dam Rong district has completed handing over silkworm raising tools to poor households and is preparing to hand over the remaining livelihood models to poor households.

On the other hand, Dam Rong district was allocated nearly 6 billion VND to implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period; of which, over 5.3 billion VND is from the central budget and more than 602 million VND is from the local budget.

With this capital, Dam Rong district has implemented a number of projects such as: Diversifying livelihoods, poverty reduction models; supporting production development, improving nutrition; developing vocational education , sustainable employment...

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dam Rong district, the greatest effect that the livelihood models have brought is that they have gradually changed people's awareness, especially ethnic minorities.

“With the support of investment capital and techniques in livestock and crop farming from the State, the people of Dam Rong district have boldly and confidently developed their family economy to sustainably reduce poverty. Ethnic minorities are increasingly more proactive in doing business; they do not wait or rely on the State's subsidies,” Mr. Huong emphasized.

By the end of 2022, the multidimensional poverty rate in Dam Rong reached 19.3%. This year, with the effective implementation of many programs and projects, the district strives to reduce the multidimensional poverty rate to 14.3%.
