On the morning of October 30, the High People's Court in Da Nang tried four defendants, former leaders of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, in a criminal case that occurred at the Nha Trang Golden Gate project (No. 28E Tran Phu, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa) due to an appeal by Dinh Vang Nha Trang Company Limited - the investor of the Golden Gate project.
The four defendants brought to the appeal trial include: Nguyen Chien Thang and Le Duc Vinh (both former Chairmen of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee), Dao Cong Thien (former Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee) and Vo Tan Thai (former Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and former Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Khanh Hoa Province).
However, the appeal hearing was immediately announced to be postponed and no date for the retrial has been decided yet.

Previously, in December 2023, the first-instance verdict of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Court sentenced defendant Nguyen Chien Thang to 5 years and 6 months in prison; Le Duc Vinh to 3 years and 6 months in prison; Dao Cong Thien to 3 years and 6 months in prison; Vo Tan Thai to 4 years in prison, all for the crime of violating regulations on management and use of State assets, causing loss and waste.
The verdict determined that, during the process of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee implementing the Golden Gate project, Messrs. Thang, Vinh, Thien, and Thai committed illegal acts in selecting investors and granting adjusted investment certificates for the housing construction project.
The defendants were also accused of agreeing on architectural plans; planning; land recovery decisions; land allocation and lease decisions; and granting of land use right certificates without going through land use right auctions or bidding for projects using land.
The defendants' illegal acts caused a loss of more than 137 billion VND to the State.
