Students of specialized high schools will study a separate advanced program from October 15.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular No. 22/2025/TT-BGDDT dated September 30, 2025 regulating advanced education programs for specialized subjects in specialized high schools.

Accordingly, the advanced education program of 15 specialized subjects taught at specialized high schools is: Literature, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, English, German, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean.

The advanced education program for specialized subjects is built on the principle of improving from the subject program prescribed in Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDDT dated December 26, 2018 of the Ministry of Education and Training . Time for teaching specialized subjects: Literature, Mathematics, English, German, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean: 70 periods/school year; History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics: 52 periods/school year. In particular, natural science subjects are enhanced with practice and experiment content, promoting the exploitation of information technology and orienting specialized students in exploiting and using artificial intelligence (AI). Literature has additional topics on presentations, rhetoric, and debates on literary and social issues.

Advanced education programs in specialized subjects with compulsory content and compulsory elective content account for about 20% of the duration of the advanced education program.

The Circular was issued to meet the requirements of discovering and nurturing students with talent and passion for specialized fields, and at the same time concretizing the orientation of developing key education in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013 of the 11th Party Central Committee "On fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration", the 2019 Education Law and the 2018 General Education Program.

For students, the issuance of the Circular will create conditions for them to develop their logical thinking, creativity, critical thinking, self-study, research, and academic presentation skills; ensure their ability to participate in competitions for excellent students at all levels, international competitions, and scientific and technical research for high school students. The program helps students determine their career path early and clearly through: extensive knowledge of the industry and field related to the subject; specialized career orientation studies. The Circular takes effect from October 15, 2025.
