Amorim was considered the hottest name in European coaching circles about a year ago when he left Sporting CP after a 4-2 win over Braga in the league. MU tried and successfully convinced Amorim to join as a replacement for Erik ten Hag in November 2024.
Recently, fans had the opportunity to witness the emotional moment in the locker room, when the Portuguese strategist said goodbye to his students before officially moving to lead MU.
In the arms of the players and coaching staff, Amorim cried and shared: "I don't like goodbyes, but if you are humble, you will become champions. We will win every title, because you are truly amazing."
He stressed that solidarity is the key to the team's success: "Every player in this team has an important role to play. Support each other when needed, because everyone will need each other. I will always be watching and cheering for you, even more than for myself. Thank you for everything."

Amorim was emotional on the day he left Sporting. |
That heartfelt speech showed the strong bond Amorim has built with the Sporting players, where he has won three Primeira Liga titles and achieved a win rate of 71%.
But since arriving at Old Trafford, Amorim has faced enormous pressure. After 50 matches leading MU, he has only won 19, drawn 12 and lost 19 - a record far worse than when he was in Lisbon. However, co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe still publicly affirmed that he will give the 40-year-old coach 3 years to prove his ability.
The next challenge for Amorim and his students is a difficult away trip to Anfield of reigning champions Liverpool in the Premier League on October 19.
