Promote through many big events
A recent highlight is the exhibition “80 years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness journey” held at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi). At the exhibition, Hai Phong's booth introduced the socio -economic achievements and especially the unique cultural identity of the coastal region, the Red River Delta, which made a strong impression on the people and many international tourists. Not only cultural artifacts and products, Hai Phong also brought elaborate art programs: cheo, cai luong, hat van to modern music and dance. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Director of Hai Phong Traditional Theater, said: "We not only perform for the audience but also want to send a message about the unique cultural identity of the Port City".
People from many provinces, cities and international friends who came to the exhibition all highly appreciated Hai Phong's art program. Mr. Ha Dang Dung ( Hanoi ) shared: "Through the performances, I clearly felt the vitality of Hai Phong's traditional art and understood more about this land."
Previously, in July 2025, Hai Phong was the venue for the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3). The event gathered leaders and businesses from 21 APEC economies. Not only did the city carefully organize all activities, but it also considered this an opportunity to promote the beautiful nature, friendly, generous, open-minded people, along with unique cultural traditions and outstanding tourism potential of Hai Phong. Within the framework of the conference, many unique art programs were organized such as water puppetry, Quan Ho, traditional musical instrument concerts and international music with monochord, zither... which made a strong impression on delegates and international friends. Mr. Tran Quoc Kien, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Traditional Theater, commented: "Each performance is a cultural bridge, helping international friends feel the spirit of integration and openness of Hai Phong".
Also within the framework of the conference, the delegates’ spouses visited Chu Dau pottery village and Lan Ha Bay. Directly experiencing and exploring the natural beauty brought an unforgettable experience. Ms. Hiromi Okase (Japan) shared: “The ceramic products are very sophisticated. When I painted the patterns myself, I clearly felt the ingenuity and depth of Vietnamese culture.”
Along with hosting and organizing many major events, as well as cooperating in cultural exchanges with many countries in the region and around the world, the city always takes full advantage of opportunities to promote the value, depth, and cultural highlights of the land at the estuary. Theaters actively innovate, stage many programs, bringing traditional stage arts to a wide audience. At the same time, many traditional craft village products such as Chu Dau pottery, Duong Dong pottery, Chau Khe silver carving, green bean cakes, Cat Hai fish sauce... appear at many international events and fairs, becoming "cultural ambassadors" in the global market.
Hai Phong is gradually affirming its unique appeal to international friends as a locality with rich heritage, both tangible and intangible, and diversity in arts and crafts creating a diverse and rich culture.

Driving force for development and integration
To make culture a driving force for development, many cultural experts believe that Hai Phong needs to promote digital transformation in introducing heritage, from digital museums, virtual tours to AI and AR applications in many languages. Strengthen regional connectivity, forming "Inter-provincial Heritage" tours connecting Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. International cooperation also needs to be more extensive, inviting international artists and experts to participate in local festivals...
Another important direction is to build high-quality cultural human resources. Artists need to be good at traditional arts, fluent in foreign languages and communication skills. In addition, it is necessary to encourage businesses to join in organizing events and promote multi-channel communication to create a resonance effect.
Major events such as the National Exhibition or the ABAC 3 Conference have proven that culture is not only the "soul" of the land, but also the driving force for development and "soft power" in international integration.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: “Political and economic events are golden opportunities for Hai Phong to promote its image to domestic and international friends, especially to introduce its famous landscapes and landscapes. Of the 9 heritages of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO as world natural heritages, Hai Phong has 2 heritages. This shows that the development of Hai Phong is based on the foundation of cultural depth and richness, creating a very unique attraction to welcome domestic and international friends”.
From performing arts, traditional craft villages to majestic natural landscapes, Hai Phong affirms that culture is the bridge, the shortest way to bring the local image to the world.
