Indonesian football leader apologizes for failing to get a ticket to the 2026 World Cup

President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir apologized immediately after the Indonesian team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Right after the Indonesian team lost 0-1 to Iraq and said goodbye to the 2026 World Cup dream, PSSI President Erick Thohir publicly apologized in the press for disappointing everyone.

Bola (Indonesia) online newspaper quoted Mr. Erick Thohir as saying: "We apologize that our dream of attending the World Cup has not yet come true."

Mr. Erick Thohir also thanked everyone: "Thank you to the fans, players and officials for your efforts to reach the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. For the first time in history, Indonesia has reached this stage."

Meanwhile, Indonesian defender Jay Idzes also expressed his disappointment, saying: "First of all, we should blame ourselves. We had many chances. I think overall we played well in this match, but we couldn't score."

Despite the sadness of this defeat, Indonesia also emphasized that they will continue to develop towards the goal of qualifying for the 2030 World Cup. And they will continue to follow the path of naturalization to become stronger.
