On the afternoon of October 11, at Ikuno Park (Osaka City, Japan), a Vietnamese cultural and culinary exchange program took place, organized by the Ikuno District government in coordination with the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region.
The event is one of the outstanding activities in the international exchange program series of Ikuno district, aiming to enhance understanding and connection between Japanese people and the Vietnamese community in Kansai, and at the same time promote Vietnamese culture to international friends.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Sujihara Akihiro, Governor of Ikuno Ward, representatives of local departments, social organizations and more than 1,000 guests, including Japanese people, businesses and friends who love Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Mr. Sujihara Akihiro thanked the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region: "Cuisine is a common language that helps people understand each other better. Through food, we not only feel the unique flavors but also see the sophistication and hospitality of the Vietnamese people."
Ms. Le Thuong - General Association of Vietnamese in Kansai region sent thanks to the Ikuno district government for always accompanying the Vietnamese community in cultural activities: "We want to introduce to the Japanese people the image of friendly and dynamic Vietnam. Cuisine is the closest way to connect the two peoples".
During the program, the representative of the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region directly introduced and presented 3 typical dishes of Vietnamese cuisine such as: pho, vermicelli and pho rolls. The dishes were carefully prepared, beautifully presented, with the typical flavors of each region but very suitable for Japanese taste.

Many Japanese people came to the event to enjoy Vietnamese dishes cooked by Vietnamese expatriates living in Japan.

In addition, attendees were able to watch live cooking demonstrations, learn about the ingredients, cooking methods, and cultural stories behind each dish. Many locals were excited to roll the pho themselves.
Not only food, the event also took place in a colorful outdoor space with dozens of Vietnamese culture and cuisine booths. The booths introduced street food, Vietnamese coffee, lotus tea, souvenirs, Ao Dai and traditional handicrafts, attracting a large number of Ikuno residents and visitors.
There is also an outdoor music and dance program performed by the Vietnamese community in Osaka. Folk melodies, conical hat dance, lotus dance, ao dai performance and songs praising the homeland create a bustling atmosphere, imbued with national identity.
The Japanese audience enthusiastically cheered and expressed their love for the colorful and emotional performances. The event ended in a warm, friendly and emotional atmosphere, opening up more opportunities for cooperation and cultural exchange between the Ikuno District Government and the General Association of Vietnamese in the Kansai region in the future.

The program "Vietnamese Cuisine - The Difference Between the North and the South" not only helps Japanese people understand more about the country and people of Vietnam, but also contributes to spreading the spirit of solidarity, love and creativity of the Vietnamese community in Kansai, the silent cultural ambassadors who are contributing to building a multicultural, open and sustainable Osaka.
