According to Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital, on the evening of October 9, the hospital received a pregnant woman in critical condition for emergency treatment.
The female patient was born in 1998, in Tay Ho, Hanoi. Before that, the girl did not know she was pregnant, only felt her belly was big, went to the doctor and found out she was 27 weeks pregnant. The girl looked up information online and bought abortion pills to handle at home.
After taking the medicine, the girl had severe abdominal pain and went to a lower-level hospital for examination, then was urgently transferred to Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital at night, without any relatives accompanying her.

Here, Master, Doctor, II Ta Viet Cuong, Deputy Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology Examination and Treatment Center, Facility 2, and the on-duty team quickly examined and discovered that the fetus was not in the uterus, the fetus was in the abdomen, there was bloody fluid in the hepatic and splenic flexures, and diagnosed the patient with a ruptured uterus.
Immediately, the patient underwent emergency surgery. Thanks to the urgent coordination of the surgical team, the patient has overcome the critical stage and is currently being closely monitored, with his health gradually stabilizing.
From the above case, Dr. Ta Viet Cuong recommends that people absolutely do not use drugs on their own or follow instructions on the internet without being examined and prescribed by a doctor. Each body and each pregnancy situation is different, using the wrong medicine can cause serious consequences, even endangering life. When pregnant, go to a specialized medical facility for advice and safe treatment.
Previously, a 40-year-old pregnant woman in Bac Ninh had to be hospitalized after buying medicine online to abort a 33-week-old stillbirth, leading to circulatory collapse, severe blood loss, and uterine rupture. Doctors decided to perform a partial hysterectomy to stop the bleeding and save the pregnant woman's life.
