Dedicated to her profession and always a pioneer in innovating teaching methods, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, a teacher at Yen Bai Ethnic Boarding High School, Lao Cai province, has inspired learning, helping students love and be passionate about History, a subject that inspires patriotism and national pride. In 2023, she was honored to be awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the President.

The first impression of teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, a teacher at Yen Bai Ethnic Boarding High School, Lao Cai province, is that she is a gentle person with a gentle, inspiring voice and a calm, unhurried demeanor. Although born in 1975, she looks younger than her age. Since she was a child, Ms. Hoa has cherished the dream of standing on the podium, becoming a "second mother" to her beloved students, because for her, there is no nobler profession than teaching.

Ms. Hoa shared: “ When I came to the teaching profession, especially the History teacher, I thought it was the fate of the profession. I chose the profession and the profession also chose me, becoming a History teacher is a passion. And from that passion, I have inspired my students. The success of my students is the motivation for me to continue trying and striving throughout the journey.”

Meritorious teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa always researches and innovates scientific and close teaching methods so that students can easily access and love the subject.

Graduated from the History Department of Viet Bac Pedagogical University, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa has been working in the profession for 28 years. Although History is a subject that plays an extremely important role and significance in educating the younger generation, she has noticed that many students only consider History as a secondary subject, so their learning is perfunctory, focusing on mechanical memorization, without understanding the nature of events. That makes teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa always have to change the teaching method of History.

So, to make students love the subject, Ms. Hoa does not teach in the traditional way, but applies information technology, uses software to design lectures, and at the same time effectively exploits pictures, vivid visual aids, and brings documentaries into lectures... In the lessons, she also organizes games to make students feel interested and happy, thereby actively receiving knowledge.

During her teaching, Ms. Hoa skillfully integrated local historical education and practical life issues into her lectures to help students connect the past, present and future. From her dedicated guidance, students have had a clear change in their learning. Since then, History lessons have become easier and more comfortable for both her and her students. Day by day, the quality of students' learning has improved, making History gradually become a favorite subject of many students in the school.

Student Ban Kim Khoa, class 12C1, Yen Bai Province Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: "In the first days when I met and studied with her, she gave us a source of positive energy and love for History. This is a rather abstract and memorizable subject, but after being taught by her, many students loved History and had better academic results."

As a dedicated and passionate person, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa spends a lot of time and effort on scientific research, writing topics, innovating experiences; improving and applying optimal teaching methods, suitable for students, applying information technology, regularly updating the latest news to include in her lectures, thereby educating students about patriotism and national pride.

Not only is she dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic in her professional work, Ms. Hoa is also a dedicated and experienced homeroom teacher. With the school being both a place of study and a common home for students in mountainous and ethnic minority areas, they have to live far from their families, so they need to be cared for, shared, and sympathized with. She always loves and helps students, understands the circumstances of each student, and proposes appropriate educational measures to improve the quality of study and moral training to help students progress more and more.

In addition to discovering and nurturing the school's outstanding "nuclei" to participate in provincial and national competitions for excellent students, Ms. Hoa is also known as a teacher who can "transform" individual students with her understanding and ability to grasp psychology; arouse the enthusiasm for learning of weak and poor students in many different ways. She created a Zalo group and used supporting software to create multiple choice test sets to help students practice effectively. During the time of reviewing for the high school graduation exam, she also proactively organized tutoring sessions in the late afternoon. After classifying students according to their abilities, Ms. Hoa designed question types suitable for each group, discussed with students, and answered any content they did not understand, helping learning become easier and memorizing knowledge more deeply.

During 28 years of being attached to the career of "growing people", love for the profession has always been the motivation for teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa to constantly strive, be dedicated and wholeheartedly devoted to teaching. For her, the progress and maturity of students when entering life, becoming people useful to society is the motivation for her to strive and better fulfill the noble mission of a teacher. The days with students diligently reviewing for provincial and national excellent student exams, or the nights spent tossing and turning over lesson plans to research and study new types of questions to further educate students have become beautiful memories, deeply imprinted in her memory, never fading over time.

With diligence, intelligence and passion for the profession, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa has achieved many successes in teaching and nurturing excellent students. She and her colleagues have guided hundreds of students to win provincial-level excellent student awards, including 2 first prizes and 11 second prizes. In particular, 11 students won national excellent student awards, including 3 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 5 encouragement prizes. Most recently, in the 2024 national excellent student selection exam, student Hoang Tuan Anh, under her guidance and teaching, excellently won the national second prize in History. That is not only the honor and pride of Tuan Anh but also the joy of the silent ferryman Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa...

Ms. Hoa's efforts in innovating teaching methods have been recognized by all levels and sectors. For many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa has been awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level and Emulation Fighter at the provincial level. She also received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "good teaching, good learning"; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Youth Union Committee of Yen Bai province, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province, and many certificates of merit from all levels and sectors...

With her contributions to the education career of her home province, in 2023, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa was honored to be awarded the title "Excellent Teacher" by the President.
