Glazer family set time to sell MU

MU's future was once again in turmoil when information appeared that the Glazer family was considering selling the team before February 2027.

Jim Ratcliffe could lose his managerial rights if MU is sold outright.

According to The Athletic , the Glazer family set a deadline for the sale of the team to catch the wave of investment from the Middle East. BBC Sport said that the group based in Abu Dhabi (UAE) is considering buying all shares of the Glazer family, with an expected price of over 5 billion pounds, 6 times higher than the amount they spent to acquire MU in 2005 (790 million pounds).

Under the Glazers' control, the Red Devils are mired in debt - now exceeding £1 billion, despite their revenue still being among the highest in Europe. Last summer alone, MU had to borrow an additional £105 million to finance transfers.

Fan discontent has persisted for years, while the club has undergone significant internal change. Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe holds nearly 29% of the shares and is in charge of all football operations, from appointing CEO Omar Berrada to revamping the Carrington training center.

However, if the Glazers sell the club, Ratcliffe could also be forced to sell under a so-called drag-along clause, which allows the buyer to take 100% of the shares.

After more than 20 years in power, the Glazers may be close to leaving Old Trafford. However, as always, the American owner still wants to leave for the highest price possible.
