Coming out of "Project Runway Vietnam" in 2013, being honored by Forbes Vietnam magazine in the list "30 under 30" in 2016 (30 outstanding faces under 30 years old), Lam Gia Khang has made great strides after more than a decade in the profession.
Choosing a private lifestyle, but recently, the designer born in 1990 has still made his mark at home and abroad with collections shown in the world's fashion capitals, worn by many international celebrities at important events.
Lam Gia Khang said that what he is concerned about is how to incorporate traditional Vietnamese cultural elements into fashion designs while still maintaining a contemporary feel.

Recently, Lam Gia Khang, makeup artist Nam Trung, artist Hoang Chien and painter Nguyen Manh Hung worked together to create an installation art exhibition called "Echoes of Elegance".
In a luxurious space, the exhibition introduces 12 unique works of art, combining Vietnamese cultural heritage and contemporary art. Stories about the unique cultural traditions of Ha Long Bay (one of the World Natural Heritages recognized by UNESCO) and of the ancient Vietnamese people are interwoven in purposeful installations.
Notably, designer Lam Gia Khang used local materials, bearing the mark of craft villages, such as Tan Chau silk dyed with an exclusive method or bamboo silk - a unique silk that evokes elegance.

The 9X designer said he sees a connection between fashion and Vietnamese landscapes, culture, and craft villages. However, incorporating traditional cultural elements into fashion while still ensuring creativity and a contemporary feel is both easy and difficult.
"I often use traditional Vietnamese sewing techniques and traditional local fabrics. When going international, these things always create surprises. For me, art must be closely linked to life. I want to bring Vietnamese heritage and cultural elements into the daily clothing of Vietnamese people, not just for souvenirs," said Lam Gia Khang.

At the exhibition, designs bearing the strong imprint of Vietnamese culture are placed in an impressive space of patterns, motifs, and architecture inspired by Vietnamese basket boats and familiar fishing tools of coastal villagers.
The fish trap is hand-woven by artisan Hoang Chien (Hung Hoc craft village, Quang Ninh ) in a spiral shape, both honoring traditional handicrafts and cleverly praising the simple beauty of fishermen's work. Along with that are ink paintings done by famous artist Nguyen Manh Hung (also known as Hung Ro).
Singer Khanh Linh, one of the guests at the exhibition, expressed her delight at the installations made from straw, fishing gear... interwoven with elegant fashion designs. She shared: "Vietnamese designers always know how to tell stories using indigenous materials in the language of contemporary fashion."
