On September 13, 2025, in Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa), the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund ( Ministry of Health ) held a launching ceremony of the Campaign to strengthen the implementation of smoke-free environments in restaurants, hotels and public places.
This event is part of a series of activities being carried out in key tourism localities such as Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa, aiming to raise public awareness and promote the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms nationwide.
Attending and chairing the ceremony were Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the National Medical Council, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Director of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund, Ministry of Health .
Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Tobacco Harm Prevention Program of Khanh Hoa province, along with representatives of local departments, branches, tourism businesses, hotels, restaurants and a large number of students and youth in the province.
In particular, this year's campaign continues to receive the support of singer Dinh Dung, the Program Ambassador, contributing to spreading the message of healthy and civilized living in the community.

The campaign aims to protect public health, contribute to concretizing Vietnam's commitment to implementing the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, and promote compliance with the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, especially in public places, food service establishments and tourism.
The campaign's further goal is to shape a new social norm, where each citizen shows respect for the community by saying "no" to smoking in public places, thereby building the image of a civilized, friendly and safe tourist destination.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ha Anh Duc emphasized that building smoke-free hotels, restaurants and public places is not only an act of protecting health, but also a way for us to affirm a civilized lifestyle. I believe that when everyone joins hands, from a small action like not smoking in public places, we will create big changes for future generations.
The Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund will continue to work with ministries, branches, localities and businesses to carry out many practical activities, from communication to raise public awareness to supporting the construction of smoke-free hotels and restaurants.
"We are committed to doing our best to spread this movement widely, contributing to protecting public health and building the image of green, clean, and beautiful Vietnamese tourism in the eyes of international friends," said Mr. Duc.
At the Ceremony, many communication and community mobilization activities took place enthusiastically such as: Program Ambassador, singer Dinh Dung shared the campaign message, the official launching ceremony calling on hotels and restaurants to commit to implementing a smoke-free environment, mobile propaganda cycling activities on central streets, and especially the program of hanging/posting "No smoking" signs at 200 restaurants and hotels in Khanh Hoa province.
Also within the framework of the launching ceremony, Dr. Ha Anh Duc expressed his hope that restaurants and hotels will take the lead in implementing and maintaining the no-smoking policy, considering it a quality standard in service business activities, not only for the benefit of customers but also for the health of their staff.
He also called on each citizen to become a "smoke-free ambassador" ready to speak up and contribute to keeping the public space clean for themselves and the community.
Immediately after the launching ceremony in Khanh Hoa, the campaign will continue to be deployed in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City, aiming to expand the influence and strongly spread the message of "Smoke-free civilized tourism environment" nationwide.
Through specific and practical activities, the campaign is expected to contribute to raising awareness of compliance with the ban on smoking in public places, while creating a sustainable movement in building a smoke-free living, working and tourism environment for the health of the whole society.
