Patient NVC (56 years old, in Lang Son ) was transferred to the Emergency Department, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in a state of severe Dengue fever, with shock.
On October 4, Mr. C developed a high fever with chills, headache, body aches, nausea and vomiting. After visiting a local medical facility, the test results confirmed that he was positive for dengue fever. The patient was hospitalized for 4 days but the condition did not improve, so he was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for further treatment.
At the Emergency Department, the patient was on the 5th day of illness, with purple skin on the abdomen, legs and arms, scattered bleeding in the lower legs, signs of infection, rapid breathing requiring oxygen support.

Tests showed that platelets had dropped to only 5 G/L, white blood cells: 3.7 G/L, pleural ultrasound showed bilateral pleural effusion and ascites. The patient was diagnosed with severe dengue fever with shock and received active treatment support from the beginning.
Mr. TVX (63 years old, in Hung Yen ) had a high fever of 38-39 degrees Celsius, severe headache, and body aches 5 days before being hospitalized. Although he took fever-reducing medicine, the symptoms did not improve, accompanied by bleeding gums and black stools. He was taken to a medical facility near his home for examination.
Here, he was diagnosed with Dengue fever, hospitalized for 3 days of treatment, the disease did not improve, the doctors transferred the patient to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases for further monitoring and treatment.
At the Department of Viruses and Parasites, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the patient was admitted with a state of generalized skin congestion, scattered small hemorrhages under the skin of the forearms and calves. Retesting showed that the platelet count had decreased to only 8 G/L, with a very high risk of bleeding. After 4 days of treatment, Mr. X's fever had gone down, his headache had subsided, his health was stable, and his platelet count had gradually increased.
Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Department of Viruses and Parasites, shared that fortunately, the patient did not show any signs of blood concentration, was detected early, and treated promptly, so no unfortunate complications occurred.

The third case is Mr. V.D.L. (34 years old in Tay Phuong, Hanoi). After the 10th storm, there were many mosquitoes in his area. In front of his house there is a large canal, recently the water level has risen so there are more mosquitoes.
On October 1, the patient began to have headaches, pain in the eye sockets and pain in the joints. He suspected he had dengue fever so he went to the doctor and tested positive for dengue fever. The doctor prescribed treatment and monitored Mr. L. at home.
However, after 3 days, Mr. L. still had a headache, nausea, and his condition did not improve, so his family took him straight to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.
When admitted to the Department of Viruses and Parasites, Mr. L. was in a state of mucosal congestion, headache, nausea, obesity, platelet count reduced to only 21 G/L, pleural effusion and ascites. With obesity, the patient's prognosis was quite severe, with a high risk of complications.
Doctor Nguyen Thanh Binh said that upon admission, all patients were treated intensively and their health was closely monitored every three hours. Thanks to early detection and treatment, the patients' health conditions have improved and are now stable.

In recent days, storms and flooding in many northern localities have increased the risk of dengue fever outbreaks and many infectious diseases. Stagnant water in the environment is an ideal condition for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to breed, causing mosquito density to increase rapidly if not handled promptly.
Dr. Binh recommends that to prevent dengue fever, people need to kill mosquito larvae, clean up their living environment, cover water containers, sleep under mosquito nets, use mosquito repellent and spray chemicals regularly. In addition, getting vaccinated against dengue fever is a safe and effective measure licensed by the Ministry of Health.
People with chronic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney failure, immunodeficiency, etc.), obesity, people over 60 years old, or pregnant women are at high risk and susceptible to serious complications when infected with dengue fever.
When unusual symptoms such as high fever that does not subside, headache, nausea, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, subcutaneous bleeding or prolonged diarrhea appear, people need to go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment to avoid dangerous complications.
