On August 31, thousands of people and tourists flocked to both banks of the Han River ( Da Nang City) to cheer for more than 500 athletes participating in the traditional boat race of Da Nang City - VTV8.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City in coordination with the Vietnam Television Center for the Central Highlands (VTV8) and Da Nang Radio and Television Station, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee delivered the opening speech of the boat race.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, emphasized: "The boat racing is not only a sporting activity, but also a festival for the people, where we can join in the vibrant atmosphere, cheer on the sports spirit and express our pride in our heroic, civilized and modern homeland of Da Nang."
The tournament took place on the largest scale ever, bringing together 26 racing teams with 520 athletes.

From early morning, both sides of the Han River and the bridges across were packed with spectators. Despite the scorching sun, many people still carried national flags, drums, trumpets... cheering with all their might to support the racing teams, creating a bustling and vibrant festival atmosphere.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa (58 years old, resident of Hai Chau Ward) excitedly shared: "Every year I take my whole family to watch the boat race. It feels very exciting, having fun and cheering together for the spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity."

This year’s boat race attracted 26 teams with 520 athletes from communes and wards in the area. The men’s teams competed in a 7.5km race, while the women’s teams competed in a 4.5km race. Every time a team won, the audience cheered loudly, blew whistles, and waved flags to give them more strength.
The Han River was "stirred up" by the sound of drums, cheers and the strong rowing rhythm of the athletes.

“The entire Han River seems to explode every time the boat teams pass each other. Standing in the crowd, listening to the cheers... I feel the spirit of solidarity, pride and love for my homeland multiplied”, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Lan (35 years old, resident of Hoa Cuong Ward) emotionally shared.
People crowded both banks of the Han River, carrying national flags, handheld loudspeakers... to support the racing teams.

After fierce races, Hoa Cuong team excellently won first place in the women's category; Cam Chanh - Hoa Xuan team strongly surpassed to finish first in the men's category.
