Over the past few days, social media has been sharing images of Ban Gioc waterfall that are different from usual. Instead of the clear, soft water pouring down the white rocks like a silk ribbon, the waterfall has now become fierce, turbulent and murky after prolonged rains and floods.
Some people say that just looking at the image, one can feel the echoing sound, the steam rising, creating a strange scene. The floodwaters from upstream rose high, overflowing the rocky banks, the flow became stronger than ever.
Although the scenery is no longer as poetic and peaceful as usual, Ban Gioc waterfall in flood season overwhelms anyone who witnesses it.
These images were taken by Mr. Thai Duong, a local photographer. Mr. Duong posted a photo series of Ban Gioc waterfall on his personal page on October 7, attracting the attention of netizens.

Mr. Duong said he is a local but this is the first time he has witnessed the waterfall being directly affected by storms and floods. At the same time, this is a rare moment in October, which is considered the most beautiful season - autumn.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism , Ban Gioc waterfall is considered a place with majestic scenery, like a fairyland in Quay Son river, Cao Bang. The waterfall not only has the beauty of majestic natural landscape, but also attracts with the legendary love story of a mountain couple.
Located on the Vietnam - China border, Ban Gioc waterfall is known as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam, the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia and the fourth largest waterfall in the world among waterfalls located on a border. Ban Gioc waterfall is over 60 m high with the longest slope of 30 m, divided into many successive limestone layers and spread out to hundreds of meters. In the middle of the waterfall is a large mound of land covered with many green trees, dividing the river into 3 different branches.
The water of Quay Son River has a jade color in autumn. On the surface of the river, the water vapor forms a mist, when the sunlight shines on it, it creates a magical scene. The beautiful scene captivates people with each successive waterfall pouring water, spraying white foam.
