Nghe An A 22-year-old man from Ky Son district was shot through the top of his right eye socket by an air gun while hunting birds in the forest.
The victim was taken to Nghe An Eye Hospital by relatives on October 11, with his right eye swollen and a hole on the outside of his eyelid.
He said that because he did not hang the air gun carefully, it fell and the gun "accidentally fired", causing the bullet to go through his eye.

X-ray results showed that the object was located at the top of the patient's right eye socket. On October 18, after a 3-hour surgery, the surgeon removed a 6x11 mm lead bullet from the patient's right eye socket.
The patient's injured eye is now less swollen and recovering well.
Doctor Pham Van Minh, Deputy Director of Nghe An Eye Hospital, said this was a rare case. Fortunately, the bullet penetrated the top of the socket but did not damage the patient's eye.
To avoid unfortunate complications, Dr. Minh recommends that people with foreign objects in their eyes should go to a specialized medical facility for timely treatment.
