Possessing nearly 1,200 historical and cultural relics, scenic spots; 336 festivals; more than 700 intangible cultural heritages are invaluable resources for the province's tourism industry to exploit and develop. Regarding infrastructure serving tourists, the whole province has 90 hotels, 649 motels, houses with rooms for tourists to rent that meet standards, including 9 3-star hotels, 7 2-star hotels, 3 1-star hotels, 73 standard hotels.
According to the statistics of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Currently, there are 50 travel companies operating in the province, including 39 domestic travel companies, 11 international travel companies; 283 tour guides, including 64 international tour guides, 163 domestic tour guides and 56 on-site tour guides.
Along with that is the active operation of 4,700 restaurants and mobile food services. In particular, there are more than 100 restaurants that can serve more than 1,000 diners at the same time.
Thai Nguyen tourism industry has grown strongly in recent years. The proof is the increase in the number of visitors and annual revenue. If in 2021 Thai Nguyen welcomed more than 800,000 visitors, then by 2024 it will welcome nearly 3.5 million visitors. Bac Kan province in 2021 welcomed 109,000 visitors, by 2024 it will welcome nearly 950,000 visitors.
During the 2021-2025 period, Thai Nguyen province previously welcomed more than 15 million visitors, achieving revenue of over 13 trillion VND. Bac Kan province previously welcomed 3.6 million visitors, achieving revenue of over 2.6 trillion VND. Both provinces have previously affirmed their position in tourism.
After the merger, from July to mid-September, the number of visitors to Thai Nguyen is estimated at 1.7 million, with tourism revenue estimated at 1,600 billion VND.
The above results are achieved because the province has appropriate policies and mechanisms, thereby creating a healthy, transparent, equal and favorable tourism business environment for businesses. This is the basic reason that attracts many large investors to Thai Nguyen to register for cooperation in tourism and service development, such as: Dong Tam Dao eco-tourism, resort and entertainment project and the route connecting to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway of T&T Group; Crown Plaza 5-star hotel project and commercial housing combined with walking street, Phan Dinh Phung ward, of Vietnam Times Garden Joint Stock Company and many large national projects implemented in the province.
Along with the open mechanism and policy, the transportation system is expanded, connecting tourist areas and spots inside and outside the province. From Thai Nguyen, tourists can go to the Northeastern and Northwestern provinces, the capital Hanoi and the lowland provinces. Along with that, social service sectors such as telecommunications, public transport services, electricity systems, water supply and drainage systems are invested in, promptly responding to the development of the tourism industry.
Especially in the context of the country integrating into the world and developing information technology, Thai Nguyen has quickly approached tourism 4.0. This can be considered a premise for the province's tourism industry to develop sustainably. Because "Smart tourism" uses information and communication technology to form a tourism ecosystem, creating mutual benefits between 3 subjects: tourists, authorities and businesses.

The “Smart Tourism” system is built based on the perspective of focusing on people and tourists, ICT applications to increase the connectivity of information and data to serve the planning and operation of all activities, improve management efficiency. More importantly, it improves the experience for people and tourists, creating favorable conditions for businesses.
That is also the premise towards building "Smart Tourism", at the same time leading Thai Nguyen towards a smart urban model, in line with global trends.
The solution to develop “Smart Tourism” is a common development trend of society, because it brings many benefits to the parties involved in tourism. Tourists will save time, costs and easily access the best services; tourism businesses will create more opportunities to expand their business, promote, contributing to increasing revenue.
For sustainable and worthy development, the province has proposed many groups of solutions such as: Strengthening propaganda to raise awareness and thinking about tourism development; promoting cooperation, association, promotion, advertising, building tourism brands and local images; developing more tourist areas and spots in the province; diversifying tourism products and services, focusing on developing high-quality, different, and value-added tourism products, focusing on developing tea culture tourism products, festival culture, forming and exploiting models of night streets, night markets, night cuisine, etc.
Based on cultural heritages, scenic spots and natural environment, Thai Nguyen province is gradually moving towards developing green tourism. It is considered a "deep-rooted" solution for sustainable development of the tourism industry, achieving the goal of making tourism an important economic sector of the province.
