Once a poet loved by students, Nguyen Nhat Huy turned to music because he believed that this field could fully express his hidden desires. He was duly rewarded with many successful works such as: Missing a Stranger, The One Who Returns to the End of the Street, which won the Green Wave Award. For over 20 years, his song “ The Teacher” has also spread widely into life.

On the evening of July 22 in Da Lat, about 15 songs from Nguyen Nhat Huy's collection of more than 100 songs will be performed in the 30-year love song concert of Nguyen Nhat Huy with the participation of three famous artists of the time: Lam Truong, Cam Ly and Dan Truong.

Sharing with VietNamNet, Nguyen Nhat Huy said the criteria for choosing songs in the program were hot songs from the program Lan Song Xanh, associated with the names of Cam Ly, Lam Truong, and Dan Truong for a long time.

Recalling his peak, musician Nguoi Thay said: " In the past, releasing a song was very difficult because it had to go through many stages of editing and approval from the record company, without YouTube like now. From the time of composing, sending for approval, mixing and playing music to the singer singing and releasing the recording, to release, the fastest was 3 months, the slowest could be... a few years".

Nguyen Nhat Huy reminisced: " The first salary was 500,000 VND from a student song recorded on tape by musician Vu Hoang. As soon as I received the money, my friends invited me out to eat and bought me CDs to give away."

As a once hot musician, when asked if he ever bought a house and a car with his music writing salary, Nguyen Nhat Huy admitted that at that time his copyright was enough to buy a car, but he only bought a Piagio for nearly 6,000 USD, which was a hot item in 2000, and bought the rest of the gold to save.

"In 1998, at the age of 23, riding a Piaggio was very cool. I remember at that time, the star singer was still riding a "Su xuong", a hot scooter but the price was the same as a Piagio," he said.

At that time, he said that if he wrote about 10-15 songs, he could buy a car. Singers at that time did not get paid per song, per month, or per week, but the show organizers would negotiate with the musicians.

He revealed: "In 1998, when delivering the song Nu Hong Ho Hung, Mr. Minh Vy - owner of Kim Loi studio - paid an exclusive fee of 3 million and let Lam Truong sing it. After receiving the money, I went and bought a tael of gold," the musician recounted.

Nguyen Nhat Huy admits that the current generation of young musicians is large, talented, dynamic, and has the support of technology, so their works are full of novelty.

Asked about the view that today's youth music lyrics are "instant noodles" and do not deeply affect the musical life, the musician shared: "Instant noodles are also very necessary. When I'm hungry, I also eat them because they quickly help me get over the feeling, the same goes for entertainment, with this and that, the market will be more colorful, with many dishes, it will be a 'feast'."

He added: "Musicians always have people who rise quickly and fall quickly, not just now, so you can't generalize. But in general, in the past, musicians were more profound, while young music today is more 'technological', so it's easier to 'fall out of fashion'."
