Tan Linh - the land where sacred souls and landscapes converge

On that land where mountains and rivers converge, ancient Buddhist vestiges, sacred legends and cool green plains have created a special attraction for Tan Linh today.

Tan Linh commune was established on the basis of merging 5 communes: Tan Lap, Phan Thanh, Khai Trung, Minh Chuan and Tan Linh. With a natural area of ​​over 147 km² and over 20 thousand people, it has become a large-scale commune, diverse in terrain, rich in history, culture and natural landscape. On the land where mountains and rivers converge, ancient Buddhist vestiges, sacred legends and green plains have created a special attraction for Tan Linh today.

From the 13th to 14th centuries, the land of Hac Y (now in Tan Linh commune) was recorded in many ancient books such as Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu, Kham Dinh Viet Su Thong Giam Cuong Muc... The Tran Dynasty chose this place as an important military area and a large Buddhist center in the border region.

The remaining vestige today is the Black Y historical and archaeological site located in an area of ​​about 2 km², discovered in 1995 and ranked as a National Monument in 2001. The complex includes the Black Y pagoda, Thuong Mien pagoda, Dai Cai temple, Ao Vua, Black Y mountain... creating a massive and majestic Buddhist architectural system in the middle of the mountains and forests.

Mr. Hoang Van Nghi, village 6, Tan Linh commune shared: People here are always proud because their hometown has Hac Y pagoda - a relic associated with the Tran dynasty. On every occasion, everyone comes to burn incense to pray for peace and to remember the merits of the generation that discovered and built the country.

The Black Shirt legend of the Black Shirt God (Hoang Lang) - the chieftain who defeated the enemy and protected the border has been passed down through many generations.

Folklore says that after he disappeared in the mountains and forests, his body turned into smoke, his shadow still imprinted on the cliff of Black Shirt.

Today, located in the Black Shirt Historical Archaeological Site complex, Dai Cai Temple - the place to worship the Black Shirt God - has become one of the most sacred temples in the Northwest region.

Every year, on the full moon day of the first lunar month, the Dai Cai Temple festival takes place solemnly, with a procession, incense offering, and cultural and sports activities imbued with national identity.

Dai Cai Temple today has also been renovated and embellished to welcome visitors from all over to come and offer incense and worship.

Everyone believes that the God of Black Coat blesses us with favorable weather and good crops. Nowadays, many tourists from all over the world come here, we are very happy as if we see our hometown's traditions revived.

Not only ancient relics, Tan Linh is also blessed by nature with the green plateau of Khai Trung, Tat En hill, the land is considered as "miniature Moc Chau plateau" of Lao Cai .

At an altitude of over 700 m, Tat En hill is gently sloping, with lush green grass, suitable for mountain climbing, camping, and cloud hunting. The climate is cool all year round, with temperatures 2-3°C lower than the commune center, creating a fresh, pleasant feeling.

There are also amazing caves such as Diem Cave, Bat Cave, Tat En Cave, and a hundred-year-old primeval forest.

Coming to Tan Linh, visitors not only immerse themselves in nature but also experience the unique cultural lifestyle of the Tay, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups such as bell dancing, harvest praying ceremonies, brocade weaving, herbal baths, and enjoy rustic dishes such as silver carp salad, chicken stewed with traditional medicine, mountain goat meat, wild vegetables dipped in salt...

Mr. Nguyen Duc Dien, Cat village, Tan Linh commune shared: Tourists returning from the city like the most is climbing Tat En hill early in the morning, covered in white clouds, and at the foot is a green grassland. People say that just by raising the camera, you can get beautiful photos like in the movies...

With the advantage of historical relics, landscapes and cultural identity, Tan Linh is gradually exploiting the potential of sustainable tourism. The locality focuses on preserving the value of the Hac Y complex, Dai Cai temple, and at the same time developing community tourism associated with the livelihoods of the people.

Mr. Trieu Van Huan - Vice Chairman of Tan Linh Commune People's Committee said: We are implementing a plan to build Khai Trung cultural - ecological tourist site, encourage people to do homestay tourism, introduce cuisine and traditional crafts. The goal is to develop the economy in parallel with preserving the heritage left by our ancestors.
