As a special unit stationed in a dispersed area with many separate stations, accessing the resources in the Brigade's library is difficult. On the other hand, the old library operation has revealed many shortcomings such as: Limitation on the number of documents and opening hours; manual operation management takes time to search, classify, and preserve.

Soldiers learn content through digital library.

When deploying a digital library, readers only need to create an account and log in, and they can view library documents anytime, anywhere, without being affected by time or location, especially at checkpoints and units. On days off and breaks, soldiers can quickly look up and search for necessary sources of documents or visit selected sources of documents, classified by each activity area and each field. Private Tran Thai Son, a soldier of Battalion 40, Brigade 23, shared: "The digital library is like a companion, helping us look up documents, watch books, videos , and entertaining pictures after hours of hard training, thereby relaxing our spirit and giving us more determination in carrying out our tasks."

“The officers and soldiers at the independent military stations far from the Brigade are very excited to have access to useful propaganda information. The company has deployed soldiers to the digital library during breaks and holidays to apply the contents from the library to their regular studies. The project has facilitated education and propaganda work, helping officers and soldiers stationed at the stations on the high mountains to work with peace of mind, maintain the information "bloodline", and be ready to receive and complete their tasks well,” said Captain Truong Minh Nghi, Captain of Company 4, Battalion 44, Brigade 23.

After more than a year of implementing the project, up to now, the activities of monitoring, managing books, borrowing and returning books have been basically carried out on the library computer, updating valuable books, leadership and directive documents, research and training content (not confidential documents) on the library portal. Specifically, the Brigade has updated the catalog of 6,000 books, posted 500 video clips, 850 news and articles and more than 200 documents of all kinds. In particular, the digital library system has been deployed to agencies and units, of which 5/6 stations have been deployed with military data transmission lines and equipment for exploitation and use, thereby connecting, linking, sharing and using digital resources, meeting the needs of searching for information, researching, studying and entertaining officers and soldiers.

The digital library in Brigade 23 is designed to divide resources into sections: e-books, internal documents (with contents on staff, politics, logistics-engineering). In each activity, there are small folders of documents, instructions, training materials, coaching... This helps officers and soldiers save time, making it easier to find sources of documents to serve the process of self-study and research.

With the motto "Proactively pioneering, inheriting development, constantly improving", Brigade 23 has built a digital library project closely following the direction and guidance of Military Region 7, which is feasible and practically serves the self-study and research needs of officers and soldiers, ensuring the confidentiality and security of military information. During the operation process, the unit has a roadmap to build a digital library suitable to the capabilities and requirements of digital technology development in the new situation.

Colonel Dinh Nam Dan, Political Commissar of Brigade 23, said: “When it was first deployed, many contents were not yet defined, but now it is operating very well and effectively. The content of the digital library is increasingly rich and diverse. In the coming time, the Party Committee and Brigade commander will continue to direct the improvement of the quality of the digital library, striving for 100% of the unit's officers and soldiers to grasp and understand digital skills to apply in study and work. The Brigade is a pioneering unit, leading in the application of science and technology, administrative reform and digital transformation, effectively implementing the "Digital Education for the People" Movement in the Military Region 7."

Currently, the Brigade's digital library is being declared open. Therefore, units that have deployed military data transmission lines can access the digital library of Brigade 23. In the coming time, the Brigade will continue to research and improve the digital library, contributing to increasingly better serving the self-study and research needs of officers and soldiers in the entire unit and Military Region 7.
