On October 16, the National Data Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Hue City to launch the Vietnam Data Expert Network (VDEN). This is considered a strategic step, in line with international trends and the development orientation of Vietnam's digital economy .
The event marked the beginning of a global knowledge network of Vietnamese people in the field of data; demonstrating the strategic vision of the National Data Association in connecting people - technology - knowledge, making Vietnam a dynamic center of the regional and world data economy.
In the world, many countries have soon formed multi-stakeholder expert networks such as: BDVA and European Health Data Space (EU), Data.gov and Research Data Alliance (USA), K-Data Network (Korea), or AI Singapore and Data Science Consortium (Singapore), connecting the state - businesses - research institutes - independent experts.
Vietnam is also entering a period of strong development of innovation and digital transformation, opening up opportunities to build and operate data cooperation models at national and international levels.

Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of the National Data Center, Vice President of the National Data Association, emphasized: Data is the "heart" of digital transformation, the "brain" of the era of national growth and prosperity. The National Data Center was established with the mission of becoming a pillar, a place to integrate, synchronize, store, share, analyze and exploit data of state agencies, forming a national data warehouse on people and a comprehensive data warehouse to serve socio-economic development.
However, no matter how powerful a “brain” is, it still needs to be nourished, supplemented with new knowledge and new experiences to continuously develop. That is the role of the Global Data Professionals Network.
If the National Data Center is the “brain”, the Network is the “source of external intelligence”, the bridge that helps us access the most advanced technologies and the most effective methods being applied in developed countries.

Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong said: Up to now, the Global Data Experts Network has gathered nearly 80 outstanding experts from the United States, Korea, Japan, Europe, Canada, Australia, who are Vietnamese working at the world's leading technology corporations, prestigious research institutes, and prestigious universities, with many years of experience in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cybersecurity.
The global network of data experts is built and operated on five core principles: voluntariness - cooperation - mutual development; transparency - responsibility - integrity; science - quality - continuous innovation; security - respect for privacy - compliance with the law; global connection - promotion of Vietnamese identity.
VDEN was formed with the goal of connecting Vietnamese intellectuals at home and abroad, sharing knowledge, experience and initiatives to promote the development of a self-reliant, creative and internationally integrated Vietnamese data economy.
On the occasion of announcing the Global Data Professionals Network, the National Data Association also coordinated with organizations to organize the international conference "Data Science and Data Economy - Driving force of global innovation".
The workshop includes 4 thematic sessions, including: Application of data science and AI for innovation; Policy, infrastructure and data market; Human resources and technology to promote innovation; Policy and investment for data economy.
