Promoting Sovereign AI in Vietnam

Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day AI4VN 2024 brings together AI experts, scientists , and leading domestic and international technology companies to discuss the latest trends in the field of artificial intelligence.

At this year’s event,FPT Corporation brought unique perspectives on Sovereign AI and infrastructure resources to promote AI applications and increase competitiveness for the Vietnamese economy. FPT representatives emphasized the importance of building an AI ecosystem based on Vietnam’s data platform, thereby helping to protect national interests and create real values ​​for the economy.

Mr. Le Hong Viet, CEO of FPT Smart Cloud, affirmed: “Current national competitiveness is not human, but human combined with AI. The strategy of promoting sovereign AI will help Vietnam increase national competitiveness through increased labor productivity and automation. Sovereign AI also helps protect data and human resources from being dependent on the technology of major economies, ensuring independence in digital sovereignty for Vietnam."

FPT Smart Cloud CEO said FPT is ready to commit to promoting sovereign AI in Vietnam.

Faced with the great opportunities and challenges brought by AI, Mr. Viet emphasized that FPT Smart Cloud promotes sovereign AI, including five major pillars: infrastructure, data, technology platform, human resources and business ecosystem. The $200 million investment deal in cooperation with NVIDIA to build an AI Factory in March 2024 shows the group's determination to be self-reliant in infrastructure, master data, and promote AI research and development. FPT has also put into operation an Artificial Intelligence Research Center in Quy Nhon with a scale of more than 5,000 employees.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Tran The Trung - Deputy Director of AI Product Division, FPT Smart Cloud, Director of FPT Research Institute said: "AI, especially generative AI, is a technology that requires much larger computing infrastructure capacity than traditional AI and this is a barrier for Vietnamese enterprises when accessing this technology. 14 trillion USD is the expected value scale that Generative AI can contribute to Vietnam's digital economy by 2030. Obviously, to maximize the benefits that generative AI brings, the government and enterprises need to focus on finding solutions for building high-performance computing infrastructure, including investment in semiconductor chip production, policies on electricity and energy prices as well as strengthening telecommunications infrastructure".

At the AI ​​Awards 2024 ceremony within the framework of the event, the FPT AI Mentor solution developed by FPT Smart Cloud won the title of “Outstanding AI Solution”. Built on generative AI technology and applying the Adaptive Micro-learning method, FPT AI Mentor helps automate and personalize the human resource training process by AI, helping to improve the quality of employee training, improve the knowledge and capacity of employees.

Currently, the solution has more than 20,000 regular learners each month, with a knowledge base of up to hundreds of thousands of questions in the fields of pharmaceutical, fashion and electronics retail, helping to improve the consulting and sales capacity of the team by an average of 36%.
