The competition is a playground for students, technology businesses and start-up groups nationwide, focusing on priority areas of the city such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, microchip technology, renewable energy, biotechnology, circular economy and climate change adaptation.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong - Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park said that the Smart City 2025 Competition not only seeks creative ideas but is also a place to "incubate the future, creating an innovative ecosystem with a strong Vietnamese character and international stature".

This year’s competition consists of two categories: Project – Startup Category and Student Category. In the Project Category, startup teams will receive in-depth training from experts in product development, business model completion, and presentation skills; projects are evaluated based on five criteria including technology application, commercialization potential, creativity, team capacity, and social impact.
Meanwhile, the Student board is a creative playground with drone soccer, helping students access technology, practice STEM skills and nurture a passion for scientific research.
Teams can register to participate via the website https://shtpic.org/vi/cuoc-thi-smart-city-2025. The total prize value is up to 120 million VND, of which the first prize is 50 million VND. The Organizing Committee will select the 10 best projects to continue incubation at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Business Incubator.
