(Dan Tri) - On October 3, at the Huong River Theater, the 17th Hue City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, officially opened, with 400 delegates in attendance.

General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security , attended and directed the congress.

In his opening speech, Mr. Le Truong Luu, Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, said that the congress will work with the highest sense of responsibility, promote collective intelligence, and properly implement the motto: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Development".

According to Mr. Luu, the 17th Hue City Party Congress will focus on discussing and deciding on directions, goals, targets, tasks, and breakthrough solutions to create a breakthrough in socio -economic development for the next term; discuss and give opinions on the draft action program to implement the Resolution of the Congress.

The Congress will select cadres and party members who are truly exemplary in terms of qualities, ethics, lifestyle, ability to complete assigned tasks, and prestige with the party organization and the people to elect to the City Party Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

The Congress also elected a delegation representing the intelligence, will and aspirations of the Hue City Party Committee to attend the 14th National Congress of the Party.

“This congress marks a strong turning point for the city on a new development path - a path of renewed thinking, raising aspirations and strongly promoting internal strength.

Each delegate attending the Congress must promote the spirit of solidarity, democracy, discipline, innovation, and contribute to the planning of correct policies to develop Hue city in a green - smart - rich-identity direction," Mr. Luu emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, said that over the past 5 years, the Party Committee, government and people of the city have made efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, transform strongly and steadfastly in the sustainable development strategy.

Hue has promoted internal strength, taken advantage of external strength, achieved important and comprehensive results in all fields, completing the goal of becoming a centrally-run city.

Hue City continues to affirm its position and brand as a unique national and international cultural and tourism center, with 8 heritages recognized by UNESCO.

According to Mr. Phuong, in the period 2020-2025, the average GRDP growth rate of Hue city reached 7.54%/year, higher than the national average, the average income per capita reached 3,200 USD, 14/15 main targets met and exceeded the plan.

The economic structure is shifting in the right direction, with services accounting for nearly 50% of GRDP. Tourism is recovering strongly, welcoming 6 million visitors in 2025, including 2.4 million international visitors.

Industry and construction maintained a growth rate of 8.1% per year with many large-scale projects. High-tech agriculture, linked to the marine and lagoon economy, created sustainable livelihoods for the people.

Total budget revenue for the 2021-2025 period of Hue city reached 64,500 billion VND.

The Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee said that entering the 2025-2030 period, the city aims to maintain an economic growth rate higher than the national average, striving for GRDP per capita to reach over 5,000 USD by 2030.

Hue will pay special attention to developing the digital economy, high-tech industry, and marine economy; expanding international cooperation and regional connectivity; building an open investment environment to attract large enterprises and multinational corporations.

At the same time, the city will also strive to improve people's lives, ensure social security, sustainably reduce poverty, and maintain security and social order in all situations.
