Responding to Tien Phong on the afternoon of November 1, People's Artist Kim Cuong said she continues to receive treatment at the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute. The female artist has passed the critical stage but her health has not fully recovered.
"I was fortunate to be treated by the director of the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute. Thanks to the dedicated team of doctors who treated and cared for me, I have overcome the critical stage. I am still tired, talk less and have to stay in the hospital for further monitoring," the female artist said.
People's Artist Kim Cuong was admitted to the hospital on the afternoon of October 29 after experiencing difficulty breathing and nearly fainting. The artist has suffered from heart disease for many years and is in poor health.
People's Artist Kim Cuong carries out many charity programs to help artists in difficult circumstances.
People's Artist Kim Cuong plans to collaborate with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association to perform the play Durian Leaves in Hanoi , aiming to raise funds to help artists in difficulty in the Northern region. The 87-year-old artist cannot participate in the program due to a relapse of her heart disease.
"I feel guilty for not being able to perform the program "Durian Leaves" with the President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association at this time. When I am well again, I will connect with People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui and Ms. To Bich Chau - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to perform a meaningful performance and give gifts to disadvantaged artists in the North," said People's Artist Kim Cuong.
The author of Under Two Colors regularly organizes and participates in charity programs despite her old age. She often visits and gives gifts to artists at the Ho Chi Minh City Nursing Home, enthusiastically supporting the association of lonely artists to move to a new place of residence at the Thi Nghe Nursing Center.
Over the past 10 years, she has accompanied many organizations, organizing the program Tri Am Artist to give Tet gifts to artists in difficult circumstances in the Ho Chi Minh City area. The female artist also established a scholarship fund named after her mother, People's Artist Bay Nam, to give many gifts to poor but studious artists' children.
People's Artist Kim Cuong was born in 1937 into a family with a tradition of art. Her mother is veteran artist Bay Nam. The female artist used to follow a reformed opera troupe, then developed her talent in spoken drama. Her fans call her the legendary Kim Cuong. She composed many classic plays such as La durian, Quan am Thi Kinh, La Hoa Nu... The Vietnam Book of Records honored People's Artist Kim Cuong as the artist who wrote the most spoken drama scripts in Vietnam.
