According to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Region 2 branch, in the first 9 months of 2025, the total amount of remittances transferred through credit institutions and economic organizations in Ho Chi Minh City reached nearly 8 billion USD, an increase of 6.25% over the same period last year.
Of which, Asia accounts for the largest proportion with 50.4% of total remittances; followed by America 30.2%, Europe 9%, Oceania 8.4% and Africa 2%.
In the first 9 months of 2025, remittances from African countries to Ho Chi Minh City had the highest growth rate, reaching more than 150% over the same period, Europe increased by 16.7%, Oceania increased by 11.1%, America increased by 10.3%, Asia decreased by 2.8% over the same period.

If only calculating in the third quarter of 2025, the amount of remittances sent to Ho Chi Minh City all had impressive increases, in which, the African region transferred to Ho Chi Minh City had a growth rate of 266% compared to the same period last year; meanwhile, Europe (up 19%), Asia (up 16.9%), Oceania (up 15.5%), America (up 8%) compared to the same period last year.
The representative of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 branch, added that the fourth quarter of each year is the peak season for remittances because it is near the New Year and Lunar New Year, overseas Vietnamese return home to celebrate Tet and remittances also go to support their relatives. Accordingly, the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 branch, forecasts that the total amount of remittances for the whole year of 2025 will likely be higher than that of 2024.
