Identifying Tam Dao as an important destination in the new tourism space of Phu Tho, Phu Tho Tourism Association together with Phu Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a survey team to survey the route in the old Vinh Phuc area, aiming to build connections and form new tourist routes between destinations such as Viet Tri, Tam Dao, Tay Thien, Dai Lai...

Through a survey of destinations and tourism services in the old Vinh Phuc area, a representative of the Phu Tho Tourism Association said that Dai Lai, Tam Dao, golf courses... with their different landscapes and modern tourism infrastructure, can completely complement other destinations, creating more attraction and diversifying the experience for tourists when coming to Phu Tho.

Ms. Dang Thi Thu Trang - Executive Director of Tay Thien Cable Car said that with the current large tourism space, including the old Hoa Binh and Vinh Phuc provinces, Phu Tho province can completely organize 3-4 day tourism routes, extending the time of visiting and staying of tourists; contributing to limiting the seasonality of each individual destination.

"Linking is an inevitable trend for tourism development, in which the destinations of the new Phu Tho province must also connect and complement each other. For example, the relics at Hung Temple and Tay Thien should be connected to each other to form a chain of spiritual and religious tourism. It is possible to create the product "One round of Phu Tho" with different experiences for tourists to choose from, especially for visitors from far away who want to go to many places combined in the same trip to the North. For many tourists from hot countries, Tay Thien - Tam Dao is attractive due to its different climate, especially Tam Dao in winter. This place is located near Noi Bai airport, so it is convenient to travel", Ms. Dang Thi Thu Trang suggested.

Notably, Tam Dao area is currently welcoming many unique tourism products, including new experience and resort models, night entertainment, contributing to extending the length of stay and spending of tourists. Some prominent models include Tram Hoang Hon coffee shop, Tram May Camping, Nha Cua Tuoi Thanh Xuan homestay... which are helping to increase the attraction of Tam Dao. There are days when these places welcome hundreds of tourists, mostly young people.

The success of these models comes from clearly identifying the customer portrait; from there, designing open spaces, beautiful views, simple layouts, in harmony with nature or having outdoor music shows, unique check-in areas, new accommodation areas, rich experiences, diverse options... Tam Dao's natural landscape also plays a particularly important role, because depending on the time of day, visitors can capture different memorable moments, such as hunting clouds in the early morning, waiting for sunset every afternoon and watching the city light up at night.

Many restaurants and cafes with beautiful views in Tam Dao are attracting young people.

Appreciating the potential of Tam Dao, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lan - Chairman of Phu Tho Tourism Association said that in the new development space, Phu Tho Tourism Association is actively expanding product linkages between the former Hoa Binh and Vinh Phuc localities. In particular, Tam Dao and Dai Lai are prominent areas with modern tourism infrastructure and resorts that have affirmed their brands, with a location very close to Hanoi - the leading tourism center of the country. These are significant advantages for Phu Tho to connect destinations together, thereby building tourism products combining resorts and MICE activities.

Regarding Tam Dao in particular, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lan assessed Tam Dao as one of the important tourist centers, which needs to be linked with other destinations in Phu Tho and must be well planned to develop in the right direction. However, Tam Dao still lacks the elements to become an ideal destination for tourists, especially the lack of commercial centers, lack of markets selling local products to serve the shopping needs of tourists, lack of parking, lack of supply of many goods, even clean water still needs to be transported from the foot of the mountain whenever demand increases.

The camping and experiential accommodation model is developing strongly in Tam Dao.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Dang Thi Thu Trang noted that Tam Dao is a place that attracts self-sufficient and self-driving tourists but lacks public parking. Except for a few large hotels in Tam Dao that have parking lots, most of the remaining cafes or check-in points do not have parking, if guests park on the street, it will violate traffic safety. In addition, with the characteristics of a small destination and limited land fund, Tam Dao needs to be better planned and managed because resources are limited, if spontaneous and widespread, there will be no space for development.

"The management of Tam Dao destination needs to be strengthened, from controlling prices, service quality, to food safety and hygiene on the street... so that visitors have the best experience and come back many times, prioritizing sustainable development in harmony between businesses and local people. The government must pay more attention and invest in clean water transfer stations, because it is difficult for a destination with a large number of visitors to depend on rainwater," said Ms. Dang Thi Thu Trang.
