GĐXH – A child was put in a plastic bag and placed at the hospital's emergency room door in a state of cyanosis, unable to breathe on his own, and with a faint heart.
On the afternoon of November 23, Duc Giang General Hospital issued a notice to find relatives for an abandoned newborn.
Accordingly, at 2:50 p.m. on November 22, the hospital's Neonatal Department received a newborn baby transferred from Soc Son District General Hospital. Through information from medical staff at Soc Son General Hospital, it was learned that the baby was put in a plastic bag placed at the door of the Emergency Department, Soc Son General Hospital in a state of cyanosis all over the body, not breathing on its own, and a faint heart.

Immediately, the child was given emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation: chest compressions, endotracheal intubation for 2 minutes, the heart was warmed with 5% glucose infusion, sedation, endotracheal balloon compression, pulse 160 - 180 beats/minute, SP02 92% transferred to the Department of Neonatology, Duc Giang General Hospital.
Here, the child had hypothermia and could not measure temperature. The endotracheal tube was inserted into the tube. The child was born very prematurely, about 31 weeks gestation, weighing 1.3kg, and had no relatives.
After examination, the patient was diagnosed with: Grade IV respiratory failure, hyaline membrane disease/hypothermia/neonatal infection/premature birth 31-32 weeks.
The Neonatal Department performed emergency and intensive treatment: The child was on high index invasive ventilation, vasopressors, surfactant injections 3 times, complete intravenous nutrition, 3 types of antibiotics, and had to be in an incubator.
Currently, after 1 day of treatment, the child is still in critical condition: stable body temperature, high index invasive ventilation, vasomotor maintenance, complete intravenous nutrition, antibiotics, and in an incubator.
Duc Giang General Hospital announced that anyone who is a relative of the child should contact the hospital's Social Work Department.
