More than 300 athletes compete in the 2025 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championships

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province coordinated with the Vietnam Sports Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and the Vietnam Wrestling Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Classical Wrestling and Freestyle Wrestling Championship on the evening of October 4 in Bac Ninh province.

The Organizing Committee awarded souvenir flags to the teams.

The tournament attracted more than 300 athletes from 15 teams from provinces, cities and sectors across the country, including: Bac Ninh; Thanh Hoa; Hue; Ninh Binh, People's Public Security; Army; Phu Tho; Thai Nguyen; Ho Chi Minh City - Region 2; Quang Tri; Hai Phong; Hanoi ; Ca Mau; Hung Yen; Lam Dong.

Athletes compete in the following weight categories: Classical wrestling, men's freestyle wrestling, women's freestyle wrestling. According to the tournament rules, each athlete can only participate in one event in one weight category. Each weight category must have at least 3 athletes from 2 different units to compete. The age of participants is 18 years old and above.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province Nguyen Trong Bac emphasized: The tournament aims to expand and promote the campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" associated with the development of sports movements in the community. This is also an important occasion to check and evaluate the organization of competitions and the development of wrestling training movements in provinces, cities and sectors across the country...

The National Classical Wrestling and Freestyle Wrestling Championship is an annual competition organized by the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department and the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, aiming to evaluate the quality of training and coaching of athletes nationwide.

The tournament is also an opportunity for athletes to compete, exchange, learn, accumulate experience, improve their performance, from which professional agencies review the force to select excellent athletes, add to the national team, participate in international tournaments. The tournament contributes to promoting the image of Bac Ninh province as dynamic, creative, developed, rich in cultural identity to friends and tourists at home and abroad.

The matches will take place continuously from October 5 to 12, at the Bac Ninh Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium (No. 319 Han Thuyen, Vu Ninh Ward, Bac Ninh Province).
