New school is shiny, parents still 'complain' about letting children stay at home

On September 11, Tien Phong reporters were present at the Kindergarten in Hau village (Phuc Hoa commune), dozens of parents and residents gathered to express their disagreement about sending their children to study at Lien Chung Kindergarten in Lan Tranh 1 village, about 2 km away.

Some parents and residents here said that from September 5, 2025, parents who brought their children to study at the kindergarten in Hau village saw a notice that this school would be merged into Lien Chung kindergarten in Lan Tranh 1 village. Many parents did not agree, so they did not send their children to study at this new kindergarten.

According to the reporter's investigation, many parents and residents here have not agreed to send their children to the new kindergarten because the road is further, some families live about 5 km away.

In addition, some families have parents who work as factory workers, so they have to rely on grandparents to pick up and drop off their children. Many elderly people cannot ride motorbikes and have to walk with their children, so the journey to the new kindergarten is further and somewhat inconvenient.

According to Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Hoa Commune Pham Van Han, implementing the policy of merging satellite schools into the main school of the superiors, this school year, Phuc Hoa Commune will consolidate the kindergarten in Hau village to Lien Chung kindergarten in Lan Tranh 1 village (central kindergarten). Since September 5, due to disagreement with the consolidation of schools, many parents have not sent their children to the new school. As of September 11, 86 out of 124 children studying at the kindergarten in Hau village have not yet attended the new kindergarten.

According to Mr. Han, the reason why parents have not agreed is because the distance from the kindergarten in Hau village to the new kindergarten is more than 2 km. Some families have difficulty in finding someone to take their children to school. Some opinions say that the school in Hau village has facilities that still ensure learning.

The consolidation of the kindergarten in Hau village into the central kindergarten is to concentrate investment resources on facilities and infrastructure, avoiding scattered investment to improve the quality of education and save budget costs. For parents who send their children to study at the central kindergarten, they will not have to contribute additional funds for building facilities and purchasing equipment for 3 years.

The leader of the People's Committee of Phuc Hoa commune said that in the coming time, the People's Committee of Phuc Hoa commune will receive opinions from parents and people to find solutions to the situation, and continue to mobilize people's consensus. At the same time, the local government will immediately repair bumpy and potholed roads to help people easily take their children to school, and consider supporting families who have difficulties in taking their children to school.
