This is important information to help candidates determine the minimum score to apply for the desired majors. According to the plan, candidates will register their university and college admission wishes online on the General Admission Support System of the Ministry of Education and Training from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28.
Calculate reasonable benchmarks between methods and combinations
In the context that this year's exam is assessed to be more difficult in the two subjects of Math and English, Associate Professor - Doctor Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance, predicts: In 2025, the average score of candidates will be lower than in previous years, so the admission score based on the results of the High School Graduation Exam at higher education institutions may decrease. Many schools will have low admission scores, and mid-ranking schools are expected to have a decrease of 3-4 points.
Regarding the Academy of Finance, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung shared: Although the benchmark score may decrease and the score range will be wider, the Academy is still in the top 3 schools in the training sector in the field of Finance - Economics in the country. It is predicted that the Academy of Finance will have a wide benchmark score range from 22 - 28 points, not as concentrated as in 2024 (from 26.03 - 26.85 on a 30-point scale and 34.35 - 36.15 on a 40-point scale). The benchmark scores of some training majors of the Academy of Finance may decrease by 3 - 4 points compared to last year. A wide score range will be an opportunity for candidates to confidently register for the right major to improve their chances of getting into the school.
Dr. Pham Thanh Ha, Head of Training Department, University of Transport, said that this year, the Math and English exams are considered difficult, so it is necessary to consider adjusting the difference in admission scores between groups with Math and English to ensure the rights of candidates. On the part of the Ministry of Education and Training, after announcing the score distribution, recommendations can be made on reasonable score differences. Universities have autonomy in admission, but there should be regulation from the Ministry to unify recommendations, thereby adjusting the benchmark scores within the allowed range, ensuring compliance with regulations.
With the admission method using test scores to assess capacity and thinking, it is predicted that the admission score may increase compared to 2024, especially in prestigious schools and hot majors, due to the number of registered candidates, the number of schools using this method increases, and the exam results also tend to be higher than in previous years. Currently, many schools have announced the minimum score threshold for this method.
Foreign Trade University has set a fairly high minimum score. Specifically, candidates need to achieve 100/150 points for the HSA test of Hanoi National University, 850/1200 points for the HSC test of Ho Chi Minh City National University and 60/100 points for the TSA test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
The National Economics University also announced the threshold to ensure the quality of input according to the results of these exams. The floor scores are 85/150 points for HSA, 700/1200 points for HSC and 60/100 points for TSA.
The Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology announced the minimum scores for the 2025 entrance exams to assess capacity and thinking skills, with the HSC exam starting from 600 points, the HAS exam starting from 75 points; the TSA exam starting from 50 points; and the Hanoi National University of Education's capacity assessment exam starting from 15 points.
To ensure the chance of admission, candidates should note that the minimum score is the minimum score that candidates need to achieve to be eligible to apply for admission to the school. The actual admission score can be significantly higher than this minimum score, depending on the competitiveness of each major and the number of applications.
Follow the correct registration process
In this year's admission season, the Ministry of Education and Training has eliminated the early admission form to unify the time and create transparency in the admission process. The admission regulations stipulate that all candidates (including candidates admitted directly) must register for admission online, submitting all admission wishes to the general admission support system of the Ministry of Education and Training at http://thisinh.thitotnghiepthpt.edu.vn.
Candidates need to carefully study the admission information and admission regulations of training institutions, and not register for majors and training programs that do not meet the requirements. In cases where training institutions organize separate forms of admission registration, submit documents and proof directly or online at the school, candidates must follow the school's regulations but still have to register on the system to be considered for general admission.
Candidates are not limited in the number of wishes and are allowed to register according to all admission methods such as based on high school graduation exam scores, academic transcript scores, competency assessment test results... Data on scores and admission methods will be fully integrated on the Ministry's system, creating favorable conditions for candidates when registering and helping the admission process take place smoothly and transparently.
Universities have publicly announced the admission methods and combinations applied to each major on the school's official website as well as on the Ministry's admission information portal. On that basis, when candidates register for their desired major, the system will automatically select the combination and method for the candidate with the highest score to consider, helping to increase the candidate's chances of being admitted.
Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) said: To ensure that the enrollment process takes place seriously, safely, and in accordance with regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training requires training institutions to promptly complete enrollment regulations and publish enrollment information (equivalent input thresholds, converting foreign language certificates into foreign language subject scores for admission consideration, etc.); update enrollment information into the system and the school's own enrollment work, etc.
Training institutions also need to review and promulgate admission regulations, in which they should note the new admission codes and combinations with the 2006 General Education Program and the 2018 General Education Program. In case the university and college training program requires basic knowledge in a certain subject, the training institution must specify the entrance threshold for that subject to ensure that candidates have studied that subject in high school. At the same time, specify the minimum score ratio of the core content (related to the field of study) that candidates need to achieve in the total exam score (independent exam results); exceptional cases; additional criteria in admission.
In particular, schools need to pay attention to the equivalence conversion rules, the time to adjust equivalence conversion information (review and analyze admission methods, admission methods, admission combinations to determine the difference in scores between admission combinations); maximum scores and errors in admission.
