From the green environment

Students of the school presented the learning project "my ecological garden".

The green learning environment today is the result of the joint efforts of the Board of Directors, teachers and students. The previously weedy lands have now become vegetable and flower gardens that are green all year round. To achieve this result, the school has implemented an Interdisciplinary Integration Project on the ecological school garden space and organized a Design Report Competition for the Learning Project "My Ecological Garden". Through this, students have the opportunity to express their creativity, sense of responsibility and send their ideas about their dream gardens.

Slogans such as: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today” have become a source of encouragement and motivation for teachers and students. Drops of sweat fall on the soil, hands that are used to white chalk, books or keyboards now hold hoes, shovels, hoe the soil, fertilize, and create beds. Weeds gradually give way to rose bushes, lilies, coconut flowers... blooming in the cool green garden.

The vegetable garden, which is “seasonal”, is always green and planted all year round. In winter, cabbage, kohlrabi, in summer, water spinach, jute, amaranth… Not just a general slogan, the school’s ecological garden is carefully cared for, with many new plants added. The products of the “young farmers” are used as small plans, raising funds for many activities.

In addition, the Green Environment Club regularly meets and encourages students to propose new projects, such as collecting waste in common areas or planting trees to raise funds. The school also accompanies students, maintains regular training sessions for teachers to update green transformation knowledge, and expands the green lifestyle education program for students through extracurricular activities.

Thanks to the continuous efforts of teachers and students, Nguyen Hue High School has fully met the criteria of the ASEAN Eco-School Award in Vietnam, including: developing an action plan and specific program on environmental protection; integrating environmental education content into teaching and learning activities in the main curriculum and extracurricular activities; at the same time focusing on investing in facilities and implementing environmental protection activities in the community. With these results, the school has excelled over many units nationwide, winning the Second Prize awarded by the Organizing Committee.

“The award is a motivation for the teachers and students to continue to build the school into a sustainable ecological school, in line with ASEAN criteria and to continuously improve the quality of ecological schools in the future. However, we believe that this is just the starting point, there are many destinations ahead,” said teacher Nguyen Thi Thu – Principal of Nguyen Hue High School.

The ASEAN Eco-schools Award is one of the activities within the framework of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Environment (ASOEN), assigned to each country to organize and will be honored at a side event on the occasion of the ASOEN Conference or the ASEAN Environment Ministers Meeting.

…to school of identity and happiness

Nguyen Hue High School is not only a school connecting with nature but also aims at identity and happiness, helping students develop comprehensively in terms of awareness, skills and responsibility in building their homeland.

This is demonstrated through concrete actions, typically the cross-border lesson. Under the guidance of teachers, students studied with friends from faraway Germany. During the lesson, students not only demonstrated their foreign language skills but also had the opportunity to use English to exchange cultures with other countries. Through this lesson, the culture of the Mong and Thai ethnic groups, famous tourist destinations such as Mu Cang Chai terraced fields and local cuisine such as Ban flower salad, five-color sticky rice... were introduced and promoted by students to their German friends with great pride.

At the same time, students were also very excited to hear German friends share famous landmarks in Berlin and whisper to each other: "Someday, please come to Germany to enjoy beer and see the World Clock - the clock that displays the time of 148 cities around the world."

Such lessons have helped students improve their foreign languages, love their traditions and reach out to the world. The image of the school's students with confidence and readiness to integrate has left a deep impression on international friends.

In addition, the school enhances the integration of local traditional cultural values into learning and comprehensive educational activities; encourages start-up projects and scientific and technical research ideas associated with local identity and strengths. Teachers always strive to create a safe and friendly space where students are listened to, shared and understood.

Traditional cultural education is brought to schools through extracurricular activities.

Therefore, the Eco-School model “Green, Identity and Happiness” of Nguyen Hue High School has entered the top 21 educational models from practice nationwide. These excellent educational models were exhibited at the Workshop “Lighting the Fire Together” organized by the EdulightenUp Network of Borderless Education Managers in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Development of Educational Management. The excellent educational models focus on four key areas, including: experience and career guidance linked to practice; education for sustainable development; application of AI in education; exploitation of unique local resources for education.

School leaders participate in the Education Initiative Exhibition.

The results achieved by Nguyen Hue High School are a testament to the combination of practical education and creative ideas. These “sweet fruits” come from the innovative thinking of the leader and the united efforts of a united teaching staff. But above all, as Principal Nguyen Thi Thu shared: “All the work of the school is not to win awards but for the students themselves. The greatest success is to bring high education and create a generation of students who know how to live beautifully”.
