Responding to storm No. 9: Ships must safely anchor ashore before 2:00 p.m. on September 24

On September 24, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued an urgent dispatch prohibiting ships from going to sea to prevent and combat storm No. 9 (Ragasa).

To ensure the safety of fishermen and vehicles, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province requested the Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Civil Defense Command of coastal communes and wards; the Provincial Border Guard Command; the Head of the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control; and heads of relevant units to urgently implement the order prohibiting boats and means of transport from going to sea from 12:00 on September 24. Boats operating at sea must come ashore and anchor safely before 14:00 on the same day.

The dispatch also requires agencies and units to use all means and measures to inform vessels at sea about the storm's developments, guide and call on vessels to take shelter or escape from dangerous areas; organize guidance on anchoring in safe areas (including tourist boats and transport ships); relocate and reinforce aquaculture cages and floating houses to ensure safety; regularly report implementation results to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Provincial Civil Defense Command).

Nghe An has more than 80km of coastline, the whole province has a total of nearly 2,900 vehicles with about 13,070 workers. As of the afternoon of September 23, there were more than 2,360 vehicles with more than 10,820 workers anchored at the shore.

Currently, the coastal units of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard such as Dien Thanh Border Guard Station, Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station, Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station, Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station... are coordinating with local authorities and relevant forces to urgently notify, call, and guide remaining vehicles to safe shelters. Vehicles operating at sea are maintaining regular contact with their families, fellow sailors, the Fisheries Union and functional forces. All have received notice of the location, shape, and direction of the storm, and are moving to safe places to avoid the storm.

The Border Guard Command of Nghe An province said that to proactively respond to storm No. 9, the unit has mobilized 500 officers and soldiers on duty along with 3 large capacity ships, 12 motorboats, canoes and 30 vehicles of all kinds ready to carry out the mission.
