According to records on the morning of October 8, Hanoi had stopped raining, with occasional sunshine, but by noon of the same day, there were still many flooded areas in the city, affecting people's lives.

According to Hanoi Drainage Company, compared to more than 120 flooded spots at noon on October 7, by noon today, in Hanoi there were 21 flooded spots over 10cm, of which 12 were over 30cm, 9 were flooded from 10-30cm.

Specifically, the streets flooded more than 30cm deep include: Duong Dinh Nghe Street, the road surface is flooded 40-50cm deep; Tran Binh Street (section from Hospital 19-8) is flooded about 35cm deep; Thang Long Avenue (section from Km5+700 to 6+600) is flooded about 40cm deep; Cau Coc Street (section from alley 43-67) is flooded about 50cm deep; Mieu Nha Street (section from the beginning of Nga Bridge at the foot of overpass 70) is flooded about 50cm deep; the underpass for people on the right dike of Nhue River (Km5+070 of Thang Long Avenue) is flooded about 40cm deep; the underpass for people on the left dike of Nhue River (Km4+944 of Thang Long Avenue) is flooded about 1m deep; Vo Chi Cong Street from Nhat Tan Bridge to Nguyen Hoang Ton is flooded 50cm deep.

Along with that, many provincial roads in the former districts of Hanoi such as: Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Dan Phuong, Phuc Tho, Ba Vi, Son Tay were also flooded over 30cm deep. In particular, the most notable area is the Thang Long Boulevard right-hand side road (Km8+200) flooded up to 60cm; provincial road 421B (Km11+300, the first road of Dong Yen Bridge) flooded 38cm deep; provincial road 422 (Km3+164, Trung Vo Bridge) flooded 40cm.

Hanoi increases human resources and equipment to handle flooded areas in the area.

The cause of this flooding is that in the past 2 days, the total rainfall in Hanoi is from 200-300mm, locally high in some places such as: O Cho Dua ward 562.7mm; Vinh Thanh commune 423.3mm; Hai Ba Trung ward 381.1mm.

Water levels on rivers and lakes rose, with To Lich River (at Hoang Quoc Viet) at 4.69m; Lu River at 4.18m; the highest was Nhue River (at Ha Dong) at 5.79m.

Currently, functional units are operating at maximum capacity the key pumping stations on the system such as: Yen So pumping station operates 20/20 pumps, at the same time increasing human resources and equipment to handle flooded areas.
