The first herbal deer antler capsule in Huong Son achieved 3-star OCOP

(Baohatinh.vn) - After a period of research and exploration, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung (Huong Son, Ha Tinh province) successfully produced the first herbal deer antler capsules in Huong Son, achieving 3-star OCOP.

Graduating from high school in 2001, Mr. Dung (born in 1983, Yen Long village, Quang Diem commune, Huong Son district) passed the exam and entered Lam Thao Chemical College (Phu Tho). In 2004, after graduating, he worked at the Construction Laboratory of Thang Long Construction Group ( Hanoi City). In 2015, Nguyen Tien Dung returned to his hometown with his father, Mr. Nguyen Van Trung - a veterinarian, to establish the Son Diem Deer Breeding Service Cooperative until now.

During the period of 2016 - 2022, the cooperative, of which his father is the director, in addition to providing many products from deer antlers of a herd of over 20 deer, the cooperative also produces Quang Trung Thao powder products - a famous and specialized product used to prevent and treat parasitic diseases in deer.

According to Mr. Dung, the facility consumes 5,000 - 6,000 bottles of Quang Trung Thao each year. In 2022, his father passed away, he took over the cooperative, assumed the position of director of the cooperative, and continued to invest in expanding production.

In addition to maintaining the production of Quang Trung Thao, Mr. Dung and his wife, Ms. Cao Thi Thanh - a pharmacist, also researched new products from deer antlers and precious medicinal herbs according to the book Y Tong Tam Linh by the famous physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac, and invested more than 1 billion VND to build a production facility, purchase additional machinery such as slicing machines, grinding machines, vacuum machines, etc. to produce a line of herbal deer antlers capsules (Pantotrichum HS). The capsules are made from deer antlers and precious medicinal herbs, the first in Huong Son district, to upgrade to a 3-star OCOP product.

Through review and assessment, on June 9, 2025, the OCOP product classification and assessment council of Huong Son district announced that Pantotrichum HS product met the 3-star OCOP criteria in 2025.

To produce good quality Pantotrichum HS, according to Mr. Dung, the input materials must be guaranteed (deer antlers are harvested from deer that have used Quang Trung Thao herbs during the rearing process).

Imported deer antlers are cleaned, pre-processed, put into vacuum-sealed plastic bags, and stored in the freezer. During the production process, deer antlers are sliced ​​1mm thick, dried at 75 degrees Celsius for 4-6 hours, mixed with dry natural herbs such as angelica, chuan khung, blood vine and some others in a ratio of 48% (deer antlers) - 52% (herbs) and then ground into powder. Then put into hard capsules, put in glass bottles, labeled, and boxed. Each product box always has a product warranty stamp, clearly stating the date of manufacture, ingredients of deer antlers and medicinal herbs for consumers to know.

According to calculations, 4 kg of dry velvet (16 kg of fresh velvet) mixed with 4.5 kg of various herbs (dry) after being ground finely will produce 1,000 jars, each weighing 40 grams. To ensure the safety of customers when using, the facility owned by Mr. Dung always determines that food safety and hygiene are the top priority, resolutely saying no to colorants and flavorings.

Thanks to ensuring this requirement, although newly produced, the Cooperative's products have been trusted by customers. On average, each month, the Cooperative produces and consumes 3,000 bottles, creating regular jobs for 7 workers with an income of 4.5-5 million VND/person/month.

Regarding the development strategy in the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung said that he will continue to promote products on e-commerce platforms, expand more agents in some big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time invest in an additional closed automatic production line worth over 2 billion VND to increase capacity and shorten production time.

"Pantorchim HS capsules are the first product in Huong Son area and are one of the high-quality products with a closed, synchronous production process. In addition to quality, environmental hygiene and food safety are always focused on, so although newly launched, the product has been well received by the Huong Son market and Ha Tinh province. Through review and evaluation, members of the OCOP product classification evaluation council of Huong Son district agreed "Recognized to achieve 3-star OCOP in 2025", Mr. Nguyen Kieu Hung - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, Chairman of the OCOP Huong Son Product Classification and Evaluation Council said.
