On the afternoon of October 5, U23 Vietnam had its first training session in the October training session, with the presence of new overseas Vietnamese player Vadim Nguyen.
For the first time on the national team, Vadim Nguyen showed his determination to integrate and score points with the coaching staff.
"We highly appreciate this player. The coaching staff always has regular exchanges with head coach Kim Sang Sik to build criteria for selecting the best personnel for the team," acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh shared.
Vadim Nguyen is the third overseas Vietnamese player in the current U23 Vietnam squad. Before him, Viktor Le and Tran Thanh Trung were called up.
Vadim Nguyen was born in 2005, is a Vietnamese-Russian, currently playing for the Da Nang first team in V-League 2025 - 2026. Vadim is 1m75 tall, can play as a central midfielder and winger. This season he played 3 matches in V-League and 1 match in the National Cup, all of which were from the bench.
U23 Vietnam will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ) until October 6, before going to the UAE for training and a friendly match with U23 Qatar on October 9 and 13.
"The two friendly matches with U23 Qatar are very important, helping to test and evaluate a number of potential players. The whole team is trying everything to achieve the goal of winning the 33rd SEA Games gold medal, and advancing deep into the 2026 U23 Asian finals," said Mr. Vinh.
