Can Gio Whale Festival 2025 will be held for three days, from October 5 to 7 (14, 15, 16 of the 8th lunar month).
The ceremony was solemnly held with rituals such as: Visiting the cemetery of martyrs of Rung Sac, visiting the temple of heroic martyrs of Rung Sac - Can Gio, traditional worship rituals, singing...
The festival is organized in a modern but still imbued with identity such as: exhibition space for photos of Can Gio past and present ; introducing the process of formation and development of the festival; images of craft villages, fishing tools, seafaring life; at the same time encouraging the use of environmentally friendly materials, limiting plastic waste...

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - in his opening speech, shared:
“I hope these activities will bring impressive experiences, spreading the image of dynamic and hospitable Can Gio to tourists. The festival is not only a festival for fishermen, but also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to introduce to friends a unique land: mangrove forests - the green lungs of Ho Chi Minh City.
Through the festival, we join hands to preserve heritage, develop green tourism , create unique products and services, improve people's livelihoods, and contribute to building Can Gio into a safe, friendly, and unique destination," Mr. Dung emphasized.

The art program within the framework of the opening ceremony brought the audience many special performances through folk music, vọng cổ, hát bội, hát ba trao, dances...
The musical scene "Mui oi" (composed by musician Pham Hong Bien) was choreographed by Hong Yen, with the participation of artists Huu Quoc, Quynh Huong, Diem Thanh and singer Quoc Dai, vividly recreating the life of people living in coastal areas, along with the protection of whales for fishermen.
In particular, the rowing troupe of Phuoc Hai Mieu Ba Hau Tho commune (HCMC) introduces the art of rowing through the performance Nghinh Ong Nam Hai .

Fishermen's Spiritual Festival
Before that, the 2025 Can Gio fishermen's celebration also took place at Can Thanh Park. Mr. Vo Huu Thang - Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Can Gio Commune People's Committee - reported the celebration.
Can Gio Commune currently has 203 fishing vessels going out to sea. Despite limited capacity and the fishing grounds being mainly inshore, fishermen are always resilient, creative in innovating fishing gear, upgrading machinery to exploit effectively while strictly complying with legal regulations on combating illegal fishing.
The aquaculture industry has also achieved good results. Can Gio commune currently has 10 products certified as OCOP products, contributing to affirming the brand and enhancing the value of local products.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Can Gio commune awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in aquaculture, fishing and the restoration, preservation and renovation of Ong Thuy Tuong's Tomb.
