Vingroup proposes building a sea-crossing road connecting Can Gio - Vung Tau

(NLDO)- Vingroup Corporation proposed to study and invest in a sea route connecting Can Gio and Ba Ria Vung Tau under the BT form.

Vingroup Corporation (Vingroup) has just sent a document to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, allowing the company to research and invest in a sea route connecting the Can Gio - Vung Tau area under the BT (build - transfer) form.

In the petition, Vingroup Corporation stated that on June 11, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1125/QD-TTg approving the "Project to adjust the master plan of Ho Chi Minh City to 2040, with a vision to 2060", identifying the development of modern transport infrastructure and improving intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity as key strategic directions.

After Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is about to merge into Ho Chi Minh City, the need to develop a direct connection axis between coastal areas becomes urgent. Can Gio and Vung Tau are areas with strategic locations for marine economy , ports, tourism and ecological urban areas, but current infrastructure is limited, mainly depending on ferries and roundabouts. Investing in a cross-sea route will shorten travel time, effectively connect functional areas in the city, and at the same time create momentum for economic, social, commercial development and sustainable urban space expansion.

If the sea bridge is built, the travel time from Can Gio to Vung Tau will only take 10 minutes.

"In the spirit of accompanying the realization of key traffic infrastructure planning, Vingroup Corporation proposes that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allow the company to research and invest in a sea route connecting the Can Gio - Ba Ria Vung Tau (old) area under the BT form" - the document clearly stated.

In addition, Vingroup representative also stated that "This policy is an important step, creating a legal basis to initiate the process of feasibility research and development orientation of the city. Vingroup Corporation commits to long-term companionship, contributing to improving regional connectivity capacity and sustainable development of coastal space of Ho Chi Minh City".

According to Vingroup representative, people and tourists from the center of Ho Chi Minh City now want to go to Vung Tau beach quickly and conveniently, avoid traffic jams, have to go through Can Gio, take the ferry to Vung Tau. Therefore, if there is a connecting route across the sea, Can Gio will become the central point, tourists in Vung Tau can easily go through Can Gio to have fun and vice versa.

After starting the project to reclaim more than 2,870 hectares of land in Can Gio, the project is currently being implemented at a very fast pace, making many people look forward to the formation of an international-scale reclaimed urban area here.
