Building resolutions from agricultural and tourism potential
Entering the new term, the Party Committee of Ta Lai commune has urgently implemented the Resolution of the Party Congress, in which agriculture and tourism are identified as two pillars for local socio-economic development. The commune has boldly implemented the program of solidifying the irrigation system to "bring water to the fields". More than 50km of solid intra-field canals have contributed to stabilizing the irrigation water source and increasing crop productivity.
"With solid ditches, water flows to the fields quickly, with little loss. We can cultivate three crops stably, with good yields every season," said Mr. Ka Eu, a farmer in Ta Lai commune.
Once a remote and isolated area due to traffic disruption, Ta Lai has now “changed its skin” thanks to a synchronous investment in infrastructure. Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ta Lai commune Trinh Van Luan affirmed: “The driving force of Ta Lai is not only the road and bridge but also the determination of the entire Party Committee, government and people in the commune”.
Promoting the natural advantages and indigenous culture, Ta Lai focuses on developing sustainable eco-tourism - community tourism, where ethnic minorities are no longer "hired workers" for tourism, but are truly the subjects of the value chain. "Tourists come here not only to relax but also to experience "a day as a local". "We guide them to make sticky rice, grill meat, weave baskets, go to the fields, listen to folk stories... The ethnic minorities participating in the project not only have income but also feel proud because their culture is shared" - Ms. Ka Tuyen, founder of the Ta Lai Eco Lodge Community Ecological Project proudly said.
Towards the future of “green destinations”
At the Congress of the Party Committee of Ta Lai commune for the 2025-2030 term, the orientation of building a "green destination" was identified as a strategic goal, consistent with the local sustainable development orientation. This is also Ta Lai's long-term commitment to forest preservation, cultural conservation and promotion of indigenous values in socio-economic development.
With support from the provincial government and domestic and foreign nature conservation organizations, Ta Lai commune is gradually building a model of green tourism, where nature is preserved, culture is honored, and local people become the center of development. According to Mr. Trinh Van Luan, Party Secretary, Chairman of Ta Lai Commune People's Council, the goal of "greening" the destination is concretized into clear actions. "Ta Lai advocates sustainable development from encouraging homestays, organizing Trekking Tours to explore lakes and waterfalls, visiting national parks... All revolve around the philosophy: respect - preserve - share, we want tourists not only to come to Ta Lai to visit but also to become ambassadors spreading green living awareness" - Mr. Trinh Van Luan said.
In its traditional "shirt", Ta Lai does not stand still but chooses a path of development without compromise, a sustainable journey, putting people and nature at the center.
Ta Lai’s sustainable approach has also been recognized by many international organizations. After visiting the beautiful land of Ta Lai, Ms. Susan Santos de Cardenas, representative of Green Destinations Southeast Asia, commented: “Ta Lai is one of the typical examples of the future of tourism: where people are involved, nature is protected and identity is preserved.”
A great honor for Ta Lai commune is that recently, the founder of the Ta Lai Eco Lodge Community Ecological Project, Ms. Ka Tuyen - an outstanding daughter of Ta Lai was honored with the Southeast Asia Responsible Tourism Award 2025, presented by the Sustainable Tourism Certification Program (ICRT-SEA).
From the orientation of the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress to specific actions in the community, Ta Lai is continuing to write the story of development with its own internal strength, with faith in the path of "greening". In a world under much environmental pressure, Ta Lai's direction is truly a valuable step, proving that: development and conservation can completely go hand in hand, if there is determination and specific solutions.
