10,000 social monitoring and criticism sessions were organized in Ho Chi Minh City in 5 years.

According to Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Truong Thi Bich Hanh, all policies and strategies of Ho Chi Minh City are aimed at the people's livelihood: people can participate, be supervised, and enjoy the fruits of development.

On the morning of October 15, at the closing session of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - gave a speech on "Promoting democracy, strengthening the implementation of grassroots democracy, supervision, and social criticism of the Fatherland Front, socio- political organizations and people in building a Ho Chi Minh City government close to the people, serving the people".

According to Ms. Hanh, in the past term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has played a core role in promoting democracy, implementing social supervision and criticism. The coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations with the People's Council, People's Committee and relevant agencies in supervision and criticism activities has become increasingly closer, more synchronous and more effective.

Over the past 5 years, the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front system at all levels has chaired over 10,000 monitoring, social criticism, and people's conferences, contributed comments on 1,506 legal documents, and recorded thousands of opinions on planning, environment, social security, urban areas, and people's lives.

The People's Inspectorate and the Community Investment Supervision Board organized more than 3,000 supervisions and made hundreds of recommendations, many of which were accepted and processed by the government.

"All policies and strategies of Ho Chi Minh City are aimed at the people's livelihood: people can participate, be monitored, and enjoy the fruits of development," said Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh.

To continue promoting the role of the front in promoting democracy and participating in Party and government building, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations propose that all policies and strategies must be based on taking the people as the center, serving the people as the goal and taking people's satisfaction and trust as the measure of effectiveness.

It is necessary to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation of the front and socio-political organizations, closely following the functions, tasks and practical life of the people, avoiding administrative and formal things, taking the legitimate needs and aspirations of the people as the starting point, promoting digital transformation, expanding interaction channels and online feedback.

Besides, it is necessary to improve the quality of social supervision and criticism, focusing on areas related to people's lives, goals and development strategies of Ho Chi Minh City, criticism based on science , practical evidence, and mandatory feedback mechanisms.

Strengthen the coordination mechanism between the Party, the government and the front, ensure that decisions have the front's participation from the preparation stage, the government considers the front's criticism as a criterion for evaluating leadership effectiveness, creates a mandatory feedback mechanism and provides resources for implementation.

The representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that the front system and socio-political organizations are determined to continue to innovate, improve the effectiveness of supervision and social criticism, contribute to building the Party, building a clean and strong government; build a strong national solidarity bloc; so that all decisions are for the people, by the people and serve the people, towards the goal of building the city into a smart, modern, humane, pioneering urban area with the whole country reaching out in the era of strong, prosperous development of the nation.
