60/60 public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have deployed electronic medical records, many of which have deployed them throughout the entire hospital, while some have only deployed them in certain departments and rooms.
This is an important milestone in the digital transformation journey of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector, contributing to modernizing management, reducing administrative procedures and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
The information was given at the Conference on Announcing the results of implementing electronic medical records at hospitals in the city and standardizing the health sector's data warehouse organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health on September 26.
Mr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that Ho Chi Minh City is currently the locality with the largest number of medical examination and treatment facilities in the country, including: 164 hospitals, 38 regional medical centers, 168 commune health stations and 296 stations, 10,627 clinics (including 417 general clinics).
With a large number of medical examination and treatment facilities, Mr. Tang Chi Thuong acknowledged that the synchronous implementation of electronic medical records and ensuring the correct progress at all hospitals and medical examination and treatment facilities according to the direction of the Prime Minister is truly a huge challenge for the entire City's health system.
In recent times, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has regularly urged and supervised to ensure progress and synchronization of implementation throughout the system.
Up to now, 153 out of 164 hospitals in the area have deployed electronic medical records, reaching a rate of more than 93% of the entire system. Of which, the city's public hospital sector has achieved a rate of 100% with 60/60 hospitals having put electronic medical records into operation according to the roadmap; the sector of ministerial and sectoral hospitals has achieved an almost absolute rate with 13/14 units having deployed.
Notably, in the non-public sector, despite the large number of facilities and their diverse sizes, 80/90 hospitals have implemented it, accounting for more than 89%.
In terms of application scope, the rate of hospitals implementing electronic medical records across the hospital is high, of which 64% of public hospitals and 65% of private hospitals have completed it at the entire hospital scale.
In terms of investment, most hospitals choose to hire IT services to optimize costs.
A highlight in the recent period is the pilot implementation of a breakthrough solution by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to help a number of public hospitals facing difficulties in resources when building electronic medical records, which is the solution of using a shared electronic medical record platform.
This solution is considered a safety net for hospitals, helping to synchronize data between hospitals, connect with the City's medical data warehouse and form a tool for managing, monitoring and analyzing medical data.
In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health will continue to expand the deployment of electronic medical records to all medical examination and treatment facilities; standardize and perfect the centralized medical data warehouse, ensuring safety, security, connectivity, promoting the application of artificial intelligence and big data analysis in disease forecasting, scientific research and medical administration, gradually forming a smart medical ecosystem to serve the goal of building a smart, modern and livable city.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, commended the results of medical facilities in implementing electronic medical records and standardizing the shared data warehouse of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee suggested that in the coming time, the Department of Health and medical facilities need to continue reviewing shortcomings and difficulties, consulting with the City leaders to make recommendations to the Ministry of Health to remove difficulties while still ensuring compliance with the legal basis and spirit of the Resolutions issued by the Politburo and the Government.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also requested the Department of Health to promote the establishment of electronic health records, aiming for 100% of people to have electronic health records linked with Health Insurance, Social Insurance...
The Department standardizes and completes the shared data warehouse, ensuring connectivity, security and safety; including promoting the application of artificial intelligence, gradually moving towards digital healthcare and smart healthcare to serve the goal of building a livable city with sustainable development./.
